I used to be like some of you guys. Always sad, always down...

then I realized that I could just choose to be happy.

Now, I don't do much of anything at all. Barely even leave my bed.

Since I can choose to be happy, actually doing anything beyond the bare minimum to stay alive is meaningless.

Friends? Why would I need them--I just choose to be happy.

Nice things? Objects don't make you happy...you CHOOSE to be happy.

This is the life. You don't even need tasty food, nice clothes, or the Internet.

You just take the initiative and control your emotions and just choose happiness.

How does choosing to feel an emotion work? I don't get it.
>>
>>29629616

You don't feel like you control your emotions? Man, I remember when I used to think like that.

You can do it right now. I believe in you.

Just be happy. All it takes is the exercise of a little thing called choice.

OP here.

I'm going to CHOOSE to forget that I read that...

I had a really rough month last month, parent and grandparent in the hospital, had to go myself as well, and having to deal with my financial situation. But this month is going to be much better for me, saw my psychiatrist and getting medicine for my illness for the first time ever.

Had some good news yesterday, my birthday, as well. I am genuinely excited to enjoy the rest of the summer then get back to university.

This sounds suspiciously like the 'serenity now' technique.

Real talk, do you know about the whole debacle with respect to rampant pharmaceutical fraud that's been getting a lot of exposure the past few years?

Be careful anon.

It wasn't my intention to upset you, I just thought that maybe this was what you were leading up to. I thought that you were being facetious as some sort of mockery of normies who tell you to 'just be happy'.

Funnily enough, there is evidence to suggest that smiling and 'forcing yourself' to be happy does actually produce beneficial outcomes. Look up 'neuroplasticity'.

Moreover, I think that the point of the pasta is that everyone is actually doing something similar. Lots of people are struggling with their own problems but try their best to put a brave face on it. allowing those problems to fester quietly as mental illness.

> finally be comfortable with who I am as a virgin KV

> fluctuating from being numb to feel like I want to swerve off bridge into the river
> now I got to hear about being happy so I don't bum everyone out at work
It's not right.
