I struggle going to sleep and waking up. If I sleep less than 12 hours I'm tired the whole day but 12 hours of being awake isn't enough to feel tired at night.
It blows.

Yeah. I can sleep for pretty long when it happens. But I have a really hard time falling asleep. Usually I can't unless I'm DEAD tired. I pretty much only sleep every other night. I don't work every day so usually I can manage to have slept somewhat in the last 24 hours. So it ain't so bad. Caffeine pills help otherwise.

Sleeping meds helped for me, I've got it on prescription so it rolls in like clockwork.

what happens with me is i keep going to bed an hour later and an hour later every couple weeks and it just keeps cycling forever. right now im going to bed at 7 but in a month ill be going to bed at 2 in the afternoon

I have to stay up until I'm too tired to even think straight, or my brain just keeps running and I can't sleep. I just lay there going over my every failure for hours.

I sleep in spells too. I sleep at most 3 hours at a time.

It can be awful and my wife doesn't really understand it. I can't cuddle with her on the sofa without sleeping sometimes.

She tells me I sleep hump her too.

I usually have a video playing. I restart it when I wake up. Kind of helps me tell how long I slept

This is sometimes the case for me, but thankfully I'm NEET so I can catch up and repay my sleep debts (the only debts I have).
