For instance, when people are getting to know me and they ask, what's your favorite movie/music/book/video game, right now I just answer honestly.
For music I'll say something like "well I don't listen to the radio much but I like to listen to MF DOOM, Nujabes, Fugazi, [list off some more people i like]"
Does this just out me as a fucking loser instantly? If I say anything that's not on the billboard top 100, do they just instantly know I'm a fucking loser? I feel like this is a form of normie shit test. Would I be better off just pretending I'm a run of the mill plebeian fuck:

If you think you have eccentric tastes then just don't go into detail. I've learned not to say I'm into melodic death metal when it comes to music. I usually just say I listen to everything but metal is my favourite. They'll usually say they're not a fan of it, so I just say it's the most fun to play on guitar so that's why I enjoy it. And just like that the conversation switches to hobbies. That's how not to be an autist when talking about your weird tastes
