>tfw when just bought a Dreamcast again
Time to relive the good ol days, and rebuild what I lost.
I'm thinking:
Sonic Adventure 1 and 2
Fur Fighters
Toy Commander
Vigilante 8 1 and 2
Grandia II
Any other Dreamcast fags here?
What else?
>>29597948
Skies of Arcadia was pretty fun
>>29597948
POWER STONE FAGGOT
POWER
STONE
1
AND
2
Shenmue 1&2 and phantasy star online are must buys
Soul Calibur
>>29597948
Soulcalibur
Street Fighter 3 Double Impact + Third Strike
Last Blade 2
Marvel vs Capcom 2
Capcom vs SNK 1+2
Dead or Alive 2
Virtua Fighter 3
Mortal Kombat Gold
>>29597948
If you like fighting games, I'd suggest Soul Calibur. I've been considering getting a Dreamcast just to play that.
>>29597948
>grandia
my nigger
>>29597992
Fuck I forgot about power stone because I didn't have it. My friend did.
>>29597987
Never played that one. I'll check it out.
>>29597999
Oh yes. Shenmu good shit
>>29598010
>>29598018
>>29598054
I suck at fighting games, but I might get them for classics sake.
>>29598077
Fuck yes. I actually just bought it on steam, but I need the dreamcast version. The Melphis fight fucked me up for a solid month to the point where I restarted the game.
Maken X is pretty cool. It's like an fps, but with swords. (First person slasher?) You get to play as a handful of different characters by brainjacking them with crazy demon sword powers.
Evolution 1/2 are admittedly pretty bad, but if you have a soft spot for painfully bad writing and puns with a poor english dub.
>>29597999
Also, PSO was fun, but I don't think it's really playable without online, is it?
LET'S MAKE SOME CRAZY MONEH!
>>29597948
Legacy of Kain Soul Reaver.
Resident Evil Code Veronica.Use it's browser to come on 4chan then take a pic?
>>29598766
>Soul Reaver
Fuck, man. Fuck. I loved that whole fucking series. I think Soul Reaver was the first game I spent over 12 straight hours playing. I recently played the whole series again last year when I bought all the titles on a steam sale. Worth every penny.
I never got into Resident Evil, but I might try it out.
If I can even get the browser to work with the modem, I will do that. I'm don't even sure if that's possible.
>>29597948
If you can find it, get Shadow Man. Dreamcast version is the best version (followed by PC version).
>>29597948
I always thought Virtual On was really fun.
>>29598883
I've played every version multiple times and I'm a literal autist when it comes to this game and this anon is 100% corret. GREAT game, can't stress it enough, might be almost unplayable for today's standardssince the platform parts are not well done but it's still a solid 12/10.
>>29598861
It's probably not possible. And I'm being gay because those two games were made for other systems as well. I was going to say marvel vs capcom 2, and to play it with your friends, but that too was made for another system, and you probably wouldn't want to play it by yourself.
But yeah, you don't have to get that for the dreamcast.
>>29598883
>>29598957
Sounds good. I've never even heard of it. I'll definitely have to check it out. This system has so many diamonds that get overlooked.
>>29598927
I've heard that, but never played it. On the list it goes.
>>29598982
I'm here, so I don't have many(re: any)friends. I might still get it, though.
>>29599046
I bought a used Dreamcast from a Funcoland when they were both on their way out... spent all my birthday money... had a blast with that little console...
Shenmue is very relaxing and atmospheric.
The Sonic Adventure games are exactly what you expect.
Street Fighter 3 Third Strike is one of the best in the series.
Ecco was hands-down the best looking game I had seen.
Jet Grind Radio everybody knows.
Spawn. The reviews were "meh," but it was a cool little game.
Virtua Cop. Such a cool lightgun game, especially if you had a friend.
Ooga Booga and Power Stone. They were both party games. I played them a lot with my brother.
And of course PSO. I doubt the online still works. I had never seen anything like PSO before. I had to bust my ass to get it to work, because we only had one of those shitty free dial-up ISPs, (Juno or some such?)
Man, those were simpler times. Better in some ways.
>>29598018
Muh nigga. I love dead or alive 2. I loved the stage where there was wind flowing upwards just to check the panties of the female characters
>>29599281
Solid list, for sure.
Times were definitely better back then. Back then, when you bought a game, you got the full game. There was no DLC, especially no day 1 dlc, and the games had volume to them.
As for PSO, I played a lot offline, but idk if It's really playable by yourself.
>>29599458
>Times were definitely better back then.
Yeah, and it's not just nostalgia. I was 12 or 13 years old, so I'm looking at it from that perspective, but I can compare my experience to the experience of kids today. The news was more upbeat, the economy was booming, and people seemed more optimistic. I don't want to say kids today are spoiled, I think they have enough shit on their plate, but they don't seem wowed like my brothers and I were. My coworker says his kid is bored with the iPad with hundreds of games on it. I was on cloud nine because I had a Gameboy Color and like three games. What the fuck.
And we had some experiences kids today miss out on completely. Redbox and Netflix just aren't as cool as going to the Hollywood Video. And what happened to supersoaker fights? I hardly ever even see little shits out today. And if I do there's at most two of them and a parent ten feet away supervising. Seems lame.
>Back then, when you bought a game, you got the full game. There was no DLC, especially no day 1 dlc, and the games had volume to them.
I try to avoid all that mess by waiting months (or even a year or two) before I buy a game. Usually by then the DLC is bundled in and the price has dropped enough. But when you bought a game in the 90s or early 2000s, you felt like you were getting a finalized product (because you were,) and it was going to last you months or years. The first thing you did was open the box and read through the instruction booklet before you even got home.
Sorry, didn't mean to turn this into a 90s thread, but Dreamcast definitely takes me back.
>>29597948
>Grandia II
fuck yeah you glorious faggot you
>>29599896
Don't be sorry. I'm 27 and guess that you're about the same, and you're absolutely right. I'm the oldest of 5 brothers, and the generation gap is insane. The closest brother to me is 24, and we did so that. We both got gameboy colors with Pokemon for Christmas at the same time, we had a few games like Mario bros deluxe, tetris, and kirby that we (mostly) shared, and we were happy with it. We had a hacked PlayStation with burned games from a friend who worked for IBM, as well as real ones like Crash Bandicoot. As time moved on, I got a Dreamcast and bought my own games from EBnot only do I remember EB Games, I remember what EB stands forthat were used, and I enjoyed myself with what we had.
We also played outside. All the time. During the summer, every night was manhunt with all the kids in the neighborhood with like 15 bikes piled on our front lawn because our house was the meetup zone since our porch was fenced in for jail. I had a couple super soakers, but I specifically remember having the weird angled one with the light on it. We would play basketball out front and football at the neighbors because he had a bigger yard. I'd walk to the pool almost every day, even if I was by myself, which I often was.
When we moved to a more rural area, we would still play outside with some neighbor kids, though the next generation would make stupid movies with the camcorder. They were like 8 or 9. However, by the time they were 12 or 13, they were inside playing games. We all were. MySpace was huge and Farmville was everywhere. The youngest is an exception because he's a boy scout, but when he's not doing that, he's on Xbox or Skype.
You're right. Games aren't games anymore. They're propped up on nothing but advertising with very few exceptions like Bioshock Infinite creeping through with actual dlc expansions.
>>29599947
Fuck yes. Pic related
Hi there bitch.
>>29601272
I thought we all knew it was Electronics Boutique
>>29601605
Doesn't have Shenmue, the comfyest game ever.
Also you fags know you can play quite a few dreamcast games using an emulator, rite?
That's how I played Shenmue, Soul Calibur and a couple others.
>>29601655
Maybe. I know a lot of my brothers friends had no idea.
>>29601810
Emulators are one thing, but actually playing the old games on the old system is entirely different.
>>29597948
I had a few spontaneous nostalgia-tripping conversations with someone on an online game before, I wonder what the chances are that one of you two 90'sfags are one of them is.
Oh well, guess it doesn't matter anyway. It is painfully nostalgic to read others' nostalgiafag dialogues though. Never again for any of us will life be so simple as then and the world will never be the same again.
>>29602887
Statistically very unlikely, but what game?
I know, it sucks.
>>29597948
thinking of buying a ps2 from amazon, i hope the one i buy works
>>29603258
forgot my image damn
>>29598649
HEY HEY HEYYY
2 was golden as well
>>29597948
Have to check out the Beats of Rage and it's clones. Really fun streets of rage style beat'em ups great to play 2 player (or more) on the DC. Check out the ISO zone to find some really good backup files.
>>29603454
Will do, thanks. I loved Streets of Rage on my Genesis.
>>29603258
Good luck. Better to live in the golden ages than pay $60 for an unfinished game with a $40 season pass for the content that should have been done on release.
no one mentioned Project Justice Rival schools (& pt. 2) it's a great game but it is a fighter
>>29603171
My previous post was misleading, it alluded to several people I spoke to when it was actually one person I spoke to a few times that we randomly met.
The game was Tekken.
>>29604691
Ah ok. I didn't really play much cause I'm dog shit at fighting games.
>>29604528
There were so many fighting games back then
>>29598194
Shenmue is the best fucking game on that console. It revolutionised the system. Even if the sales didn't show for it...
It's essential.
The sequel is great too, but there's something about the original that's just so special and homely to me...
You can burn games to CD and play them on the Dreamcast. It's a great system for pirating.
Dynamite Cop OP.
>>29605217
>There were so many fighting games back then
True, but there seemed to be generally more variety and publisher freedom. Today so much seems like very, very slight variations on past successes.
>>29605679
I feel bad that I never actually had it. I never saw it in the stores, and didn't learn how good hit was until it was way too late. It's definitely going to be one of the first to grab.
>>29605781
What are my eyes looking at. They like it.
>>29605700
Thank Windows CE for that
>>29605791
That's because companies can reskin a game, add some particle effects, call it ALL NEW CONTENT, and charge $60+DLC for it. The worst part is people not only buying it, but preordering it before its even finished.
>no lonely tunes Wakey racers
Muh nostalgia.
Also, can't remember if it was on dream cast but JSRF
>>29597948
Not dreamcast related but. On Saturday I sold my most valuable possession. MY PLAYSTATION 1. I had it for 22 years and was still working perfectly. I feel like such a idea. But I know within the next year and a half. I'm going to commit suicide. So I'm slowly trying to let go of the past and my glory days. Plus the guy seemed Iike he's a collector and most probably will look after it. I already miss it especially Tekken 3. I guess this is the beginning of the end for me.
>"Hey there space cats! Ulala here comin' at you from Space Port 9."
>>29605977
Feel like such a idiot for selling it
>>29605977
who the hell gave you any money for PS1? did you get like 10 bucks?
>>29606043
60 bucks. With 5 games, 2 demo discs, 2 controllers and 1 memory card. Original boxes and everything.
