How do you feel about your country's military?
>>

Canada. I feel like sometimes we're actually helping a little when the US lets us come along.
We got a few really badasses special units though.
>>
american

the one thing that gets me is that people always give us credit for saving the world in WWII when if you look at the history out forces were incredibly inept and didn't contribute much.
>>
United States, god-tier military
>>
USAF here.
It's fun. We spend a lot of money though

This is patently false

They haven't defended our country from a legitimate threat for nearly a century now, and the fact that the military gets as much funding as it does and soldiers are respected as much as they are is completely ridiculous.
>>
>>29595169
Yeah, the soviets did the most (and suffered the most) it seems. The US were extremely powerful, but they had secure, distant industrial bases and came in long after the other players had received most of the damage. It doesn't mean they didn't make the difference though.

Nuked Japan twice
Liberated Western Europe
Weakened Axis powers through strategic bombing campaign
Provided material aid to allied nations
>>
>>29595518
Did you know our military are first responders to humanitarian aid around the world? Like what happened in Japan with their earthquake and haiti?
>>
>>29595027

Well, I think in Canada we have a pretty passive military, peace keeping, rescue etc etc.

BUT, we have a sizable naval force and air force which is pretty bad ass. There is no need for man power from the Canadian point of view because we will never have a ground conflict with big brother America and every fight we would be involved in would be over seas.

We don't need to spend a trillion dollars on jets that don't work to provide humanitarian aid.

statist detected
>>
>>29595131
If we didn't have so many bleeding heart pussies our military would be something to be proud of. Instead we underspend on our hardware, so the only thing to be proud of is our A+ Infantry. Now if we could be proud of our armor, airforce and navy that'd be nice.
>>
>>29595916
We actually have a small navy and our air force isn't that great. Quality troops is about all we have
>>
>>29596013

>second biggest air force in the world during WW2
>third biggest naval force during WW2

Obviously things have changed over the course of 80 years but we are still up to par and capable.

We have like 2 tanks though, which is hilarious in my opinion.
>>
>>29595027
Slovakia
It's pretty much nonexistent, we have like 3 jets from cold war and a couple dozen tanks+handful of helis
Pretty much reliant on EU
Also we have to strategically placed airbase that jets can't even take off and turn around without invading neighbors airspace.

Not going to be much money left after we buy those F-35s to make the US happy.

AND WE COULD HAVE HAD OUR OWN! :/

not so hot as i did now that women are probably gonna be drafted like men but also happy because fuck women for wanting equality when they're not equal

>>

>nuked a country that was lost already, after the rest of the world had actually ended the war
There was a reason for that. The Soviets were coming in to """""help""""" soon (after having waited on stand by for the US to do the work) and surrendering negotiations would have happened with the Soviets too. Japan would not be what it is today if it didn't surrender to the US alone.
>>
>>29596249
>vast majority of camps were liberated by the soviets
Because they were in the east you idiot.
and fictional

WW2 was a total war there was no division between civilian and military which is why the US firebombed all of Japan's major cities.
>>
>>29596256
The only real mistake is that cancelling the Avro Arrow drove all of the aerospace engineers out of our country. The Arrow wasn't necessary for its time period and we'd need to have replaced it by now anyways. Still, it'd be nice to have an in-house fighter instead of the shitty American F-35s.

US. I won't deny we played one hell of a role in WW2 (though other nations' sacrifices should not be downplayed, especially the USSR), I feel like we have become an imperialist force for oil wars and our "empire of bases." Our troops either don't care what they're fighting for or believe in some false "defending freedom" propaganda. We haven't seen a legitimate threat to muh freedoms in over half a century; enough with all this "thank a soldier for defending your freedom" crap.
>>
>>29596599
Samefag here. I should clarify we have seen legitimate threats to muh freedoms: inside the borders, with our corrupt ass spying plutocratic government

Not even close, baby. Lots of Canacucks say the military is great and whatever... blah blah blah, underdog... blah blah blah used to be great. The more you say that, the more people think its ok to slash the budget and fuck over the military because in their eyes, its doing pretty well when in reality, its not really.

USA, I'm in right now.

It's probably one of the dumbest groups of people I've been around with the stupidest taskings given out but it's pretty fun since you can just play dumb and mess up and no one gets mad plus sometimes you get to do cool things every blue moon

Nah it's easy, you don't have to go out that much since your job is completely inside or really deal with a lot of people depending on what section you get put in for your job. I don't like talking to random people but basic training helped me fake it so I can pretend to carry a conversation and act interested in what they say.

Top Kek m8, you realize we outclass them in every single military category. Russia is strong regionally but can do little to project it's power internationally.

it's impressive, can't deny that. but i live in the north east so i didn't grow up with all that MURRICA #1 shit like so many others do, that seems more like a southern/middle america kind of thing. it's just not a way of life up here. i only know of like 3 people who enlisted that i went to school with.

They're a toothless tiger, fucking retards. The navy are just utter mongoloids, the army is incompetent and the air force is almost non-existent.
I bet a hundred armed men could fucking overthrow the government and take over this country, the Irish are retards.
>>
>>29595169
the russians won ww2 with the help of our exports. we gave them a lot of shit, but mostly our transport supply trucks made the biggest difference, the tanks we sent them were completely shit, but they didn't really need them considering they had the kv1 and the t34.

if we never invaded europe the russians would have STILL won, we just made it easier for them. germany was completely finished after kursk. that was a year before d-day.

beating nazis and saving jews from camps makes for more emotional movies than men going island to island killing japs though

>>
>>29598285
they made a lot of movies in the 50s and 60s for the pacific part of the war, but they haven't aged well. the best thing they've made lately (like in the past 15 years) is the hbo mini series the pacific. it's alright i guess, band of brothers is much better though, but that's the european part of the war.

there's also the thin red line, but that movie has so many fucking problems. the battle scenes are great, but everything else is just terence malick jerking off to philosophical bullshit like the rest of his movies.
