NORMIES INVADED. It happened to the Usenet, to MUDs, to IRC, to MMORPGs, to everything. Normies ruin everything!
>>
Actually, this is that one time where I'll say normies unironically. Shit got fucking ruined when your average person decided to take advantage of what they used to see as nerdy and counter culture.

I remember my first experience with the internet

I remember back in Grade 3 we were going to go on a field trip to the art gallery. He asked everyone in class to bring $5 in the next day so that we could pay for our fees. The day after we gave him the money he got online and showed us pictures of art on some art website

Asshole stole fucking $150

It rapidly went from an anarchist's utopia to corporative fascist conglomerates holding all the power.

I remember years ago being told never to put my personal details online. Now I'm expected to provide an address to place a pick-up order for pizza, Facebook sign-ins are pushed on almost every site, and just about everything asks for your real name and date of birth.

No decentralized storage protocol.

IPFS would have fixed everything if it had been implemented from the start instead of HTTP.

Letting Zuckerberg/Bezos carve it up and enclose their little normie resource extraction farms is what killed it.

Well, that + social media.
Anonymity was a good bulwark against the pussy pass, but now of course they're screeching for us all to be hanged.

I think the Internet is even worse for women than males, though. They really don't have the mental sophistication to distinguish fantasy from reality and are like parakeets attacking a mirror.
