They usually don't actually reproduce when they have sex. But their sex drive (and revulsions) still operate as if they would (and as if they could easily be raped). It's all just instinct. And instinct doesn't always pick the best traits for civilized societies. But women tend to value social status a lot, which is very adaptable. Nowadays poor and mentally ill people tend to actually reproduce a lot and it doesn't have much to do with their sex drive (due to contraception).
