The problem here is the perpetuation of this "friend zone" myth; The absurd notion that once a woman sees you as a friend she cannot possibly see you as anything else.
This is patently false, if you find a woman who is within your league and genuinely befriend her, you are effectively 'courting', as it was once called. She feels safe with you, you can take her on dates and you're able to communicate with her as another human being rather than some bitch you want to stick it in.
The reason so many people believe this is a dead end is that those reporting in are generally weak/ugly/fat/etc., addicted to porn and unable to process the idea of a healthy longterm relationship, and first and foremost: they're shooting far out of their league.
Find a girl who likes you enough to hang around you. Have some fun with her like she was anyone else, after a couple months, if you still like her, set up a small proposal for a relationship. Nothing too fancy, but something more than "w-want to be my g-girlfriend?"
You're not going to build a solid relationship on 3 dates and some mediocre sex
If you don't have enough personality to develop a friendship with a woman, shoot for somebody equally repulsive and you'll do fine.

That sounds great, but I honestly think you are wrong.
It really seems like girls separate guys into separate groups with different purposes. There are some things they like about guys sexually, and some things they like for friendships. They want and CAN have both.
Real friendships are more long terms, while they want to be able to enjoy a string of shorter terms sexual relationships without compromising their friendships. That whole time both sides of the friendship will have learned not to think of each others sexually. It's usually harder for the guy and he'll probably resent her a little unless he was able to do the same thing as her. So yeah, I think friendships tend to stay friendships because of that.

This is only true if you two keep in touch often. If you go for weeks or months without seeing each other, you're still distant enough to stay outside the friendzone.
