Why do autists ignore everything about why Macbooks are so great? SPECIFICALLY the battery life alone and the trackpad are the reasons why I have a Macbook Pro.
Trackpads on all Windows laptops are such pieces of shit, which is a design flaw of the OS more so than the trackpad itself, but whatever.
That kind of reminded me of last year when my brother went off to college. he spent about 1200 bucks on some ultra hipster macbook. A month later I built my own gaming PC and spent just shy of 1000. He started flipping shit and chimping out because he couldn't understand how my "cheap" computer could play high end games and his macbook couldn't.

I dont need a laptop right now because i got a company laptop, but I've worked with a macbook before and I enjoyed working with it more than with my plastic vaio or brick thinkpad. So yeah I'd definitely consider buying a macbook... but I'd compare with other models first ofc. However you dont really find any other laptops that are so well built.
specs dont matter as much for a laptop btw.. I'd always chose a desktop pc for gaming over a laptop so there are other deciding factors.

I also own a desktop computer and which I use for all media purposes / gaming. In my office (grad student) I have a pure work desktop. Which leaves my laptop as a portable machine that can act as a bridge between the two.

Apple uses a fan control algorithm that basically keeps the fans at very low speeds until the CPU is at or near throttling. I've been a mac person for life, and I've had plenty of people tell me this when i buy another new computer.
it really started because of my dad, he told me when i was little to always buy apple products because *they hold there vale better and are beer made computers*.
he was totally right too, for the last few years I've been buying the newest iMacs because i can use one for a year or a year and a half (i actually take good care of my shit) then i can easily sell it for like $75 of its new value and pay the 25% more and get the latest model. its like a couple hundred dollar upgrade, which once again holds its value.
reading this you probably think I'm rich or have a lot of money, well i don't and never have. i just find its an item that you get what you pay for. I'm not talking from a developers or gamers perspective either, though i do and have always played games on my iMac.

If you do any kind of audio work, you'll find that Macs give you a much better experience.
On Windows: need to install driver for audio interface. to get acceptable latency, your DAW has to have exclusive access to the audio interface with ASIO, which means that you can't get audio from any other application while your DAW is open.
Mac: plug your audio interface in, it works. open your DAW, the latency will be low. you can keep your DAW open while you watch your mongolian cartoons in your down time because Core Audio doesn't need exclusive access.
also, UNIX is great
but none of this excuses the ridiculously expensive SSD and GPU prices in macs right now.

I bought an Imac to make music and from what i knew at the time Macs were good for recording music. Logic Pro has served me pretty well and its easy to use. I bought it brand new in 2009 so its lasted me about 7 years now. I still have never upgraded the RAM though, im just too cheap and procrastinating. Im only running on 2 2GB RAM cards.
