I'm so sick of being fat when I barely eat anything. Meanwhile my brother fucking gorges and he stays eternally CHAD. Why must genetics be so cruel? ;_;
>>
Have you considered exercise
>>

It's simply energy in, energy out.
Energy doesn't just grow inside your body

I exercise twice a day. 20 pushups. 30 sit-ups, and 30 minutes on the exercise bike. All my brother does is play basketball once a day with his CHAD friends for 45 minutes. I exercise a lot more and eat a lot less but I'm still fat and he isn't.
>>
One thing I noticed is that all people that complain about skinny people eating a lot while staying skinny all snack during the whole day while skinny people eat only breakfast and dinner, perhaps lunch as well.
It's their own fault and should just stop complaining because it's annoying. It's your own fault for not being able to control yourself.

Lift nigga

bodies with more muscle in relation to fat passively burn more calories throughout the day. Thats why chad (who has muscles) can afford to eat lots while not exercising much. You however, are probably a skinnyfat shit, so eating less won't help you unless you basically starve yourself because your body requires such low caloric costs
>>
>>29565715
You don't even need to work out to stay thin, literally just keep track of how many calories you consume and make sure it stays around your personal weight maintenance value.
>>

This. I only eat one large meal each day so anytime I'm forced to interact with people they get mad that I'm skinny.
>>

Are you a woman?

OP, if you're stuck at that weight and complaining about being stuck while you CONTINUE to do the same fucking routine (both eating and "exercise") you're a moron.

To lose weight, you need to be active for more time and also you need to be eating less. Fat fucks are literally niggers. You can't take responsibility and understand you're in your situation because of yourself.

Stop whining or kill yourself. It's not Chad's fault this time.

Think like this;

>Adult male is 160lbs
>Adult male eats as much as he feels like (this is key, he's not stuffing himself, he's eating what he thinks he needs)
>Adult male goes through his day, using up energy all throughout the day
>His body uses up the energy that it needs to do such tasks
>He stays at the same weight

Now here's what fat fucks do;

>Fat fuck weighs 280lbs
>Fat fuck eats as much as he can
>Fat fuck does minimal exercises or goes through his daily routine
>Fat fuck consumed more energy than he needed
>Fat fuck goes on to blame Chad for his problems

Either
>Excess increases his weight

>He stays at the same weight

Honestly, metabolsim is a cruel joke.
My mother for example has a terrible one, she has to exercise a lot, on top of that lead a very strict diet. On top of that she naturally has quite and apetite. But with effort she indeed is able to get quite in shape, and her progress so far is tromendous.

But then You have me for example. When I was born she was worried I would have bad metablolism after her, especially when I was born quite a heavy toddler. Yet in the end I'm slim as fuck, I do little if any exercise, usually do not have any good apetite. And yet when I eat a lot, or food that's not as healthy. It has little to no effect on me. Well, luckily enough mom inspired a love for healthy food in me, so it works anyway. But still my apetite sucks and everything just goes through me. Not that I mind though.

But still, metabolism can be cruel, and if one is not the active kind, it's pretty nasty.
>>
I eat like shit, but I also work out 4 times a week and walk to and from work every day. If you spend your days lurking r9k, eat like shit and walk only to the fridge and back, you're going to get fat.

Of course not, thus the talk of exercise.
Point being metabolism is a major factor, and either it helps or makes it more agonizing.
>>
I lose weight quick, my only problem is getting off my lazy ass and finding a good way to occupy my time that isn't laying in bed watching a movie, surfing the internet, or sitting around thinking too much.

I can do 10 push ups, maybe 20 if I keep with it and stop taking week long breaks, 30 minute runs on the treadmill.

Problem is my life is boring, my friends don't do shit but play video games and do boring shit like going to see the next shitty capeshit movie, a girl who's on some slight sjw feminists shit so I'm thinking about burning bridges with her or keeping it strictly friendly. And a boring ass family who does nothing but sit around and watches TV all day.

I'm about to just start going out and doing things on my own since I'm a loner anyway. These people are completely soulless fucking lowlives.

I would think a person's self control, their desire to succeed, etc are much more important than something like metabolism. Agony doesn't matter if a strong-willed person wants to improve their life.

I'm sure it's just as agonizing, both mentally and physically, for fat people living the way they are already. There's absolutely no excuse for it.
>>
>>29565815

Do people actually believe this? Jesus Christ dude. Running around on a basketball court burns more calories than doing a few crunches and sitting down an exercise bike. This is not a difficult concept to grasp. It is an empirical, objective, non debatable, scientific fact.

A plate sized amount of cake is still a shitload of calories. Count your calories. If you're that overweight your calorie budget should be above 2000. 2000 calories can go a long way if you don't waste it on 400 calorie sugary drinks and high carb foods.
>>
>>29565692

Greetings from /fit/. We got cross-linked to this so I decided to come in and crap all over your thread, because, you know, why not.

If you eat more calories than you burn, you will gain weight. If you eat fewer calories than you burn, you will lose weight. The human body literally CAN'T work any other way, according to the Law of Conservation of Mass:

1. You require energy to do things like, you know, breathe, think, have a heartbeat. There are ONLY two possible sources of energy: Food you eat, and body fat you burn. If you don't eat enough food, your body will burn fat to make up the difference. It HAS to, or you'd literally die if you skipped even a single meal.

2. You can't build fat without a source of raw material. Literally the ONLY source for such material is food that wasn't already burned for energy.

Again, and I can't stress this enough, the human body WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO FUNCTION ANY OTHER WAY. There is no "condition", no "genetic trait", NOTHING that can overcome this basic scientific law. If it could, this would LITERALLY BE THE BIGGEST SCIENTIFIC BREAKTHROUGH IN THE HISTORY OF MANKIND AS IT WOULD HOLD THE KEY TO SOLVING THE WORLD'S ENERGY CRISIS WITH UNLIMITED FREE ENERGY.

Left:
Goes out a lot, walks, takes the stairs, generally active throughout the day. Doesn't eat any or extremely rarely 'snacks' throughout the day. Eats when hungry, not out of pure gluttony. Overall, eats somewhat healthily while enjoying to mix it up every now and then (sometimes vegetables, sometimes a fruit, sometimes none of those).

Right:
Hardly moves at all, spends most of the free time sitting, laying around or resting. Enjoys having a 'snack' every now and then, especially during 'hard' days as a form of reward. Often eats even when no longer hungry simply 'because it tastes soooooo good :3'. Overall, has a rather bad diet with a preference for unhealthy food due to the 'clearly superior taste'.

>>
>>29565764
You're a Fucking idiot. A few pushups and 30 minutes on an exercise bike (the slowest way to burn calories since you're probably on a low setting) isn't the same as 45 minutes of basketball, especially if he plays hard. I'm assuming you've never played a sport before and don't know how much effort they can take.

Maybe you should work out like him and you'll look like him. You need to do more than your shitty routine. If you want to do pushups and situps you need to do a whole push up routine, which would take a lot more than 30 pushups. You should be upping the number anyway, of course doing 30 everyday isn't going to help you improve. Also, if you're doing bodyweight exercises you might as well get a pullup bar to work your back.
But really the best way to get in shape is to lift or do a sport. You should at least be running instead of biking for 30 minutes. And clean up your diet, I know you probably think it's good but I doubt it. Snacks have calories too

You need to excercise for hours to burn off the calories of a small meal. No one does that. People excercise for their general health, not to stay thin. Thin people overestimate how much they eat and how much calories things contain, that's why they are thin despite claiming to eat a lot or seemingly snacking all the time.

No, it doesn't. People have different capacities to gain fat. Some people simply don't put on weight no matter what they do.

it doesn't mean that most fatties aren't just lazy gluttons, because they are. it just means that a fat-gene person has to try harder than a thin-gene person to be thin, which is what the comic is about -- jealousy that others don't have to try as hard for the result

Many people don't believe it, but genetics really do play a part in a person's weight and metabolism but it's only one piece of the pie. People like to paint things in black and white, and say "lol you're like 500 lbs yet you blame genetics. The genetics argument is therefore bullshit". In reality genetics is just one element from the equation.

There are many other elements. The biggest, most obvious one is physical activity.

Another element is our brains. Humans seem to be very poor at judging the amount of food they're actually eating. I think that is connected to our ability to adapt. I've seen skinny people say "ugh I ate SO much today" and they ate a cheeseburger. If you just eat a Big Mac, that's a little over 500 calories. If you skipped the other two meals for that day, that's an extremely low amount of food to eat.

The other extreme is someone who grazes all day long, eating snacks here and there. They don't realize that the snacking adds up, then they eat regular normal meals on top of it. In the end, they're consuming 3000-4000 calories/day and they don't even realize it.

Another big one that applies to both extremes is portion control. A thin person may think they're eating huge portions but they're only eating a small one, or an obese person may think they're eating a normal portion when they're eating a double or triple portion. That's why whenever it comes up in conversation, I tell them to get food scales and measuring cups. 99% of the time they're surprised by what they were actually eating.
>>
>>29567025
>MUH GENETICS
At most the difference between people genetically is 300 or so calories which is nothing. Most people who are fat aren't really looking into what and how much they're eating. 36 percent of Americans don't have an obesity gene. If this was true then Americans would have been overweight and fat long before the 1960s and 70s.
>>
>>29565692
>>29566826

So just to expand on this, 100% guaranteed you ARE making one (or both) of these mistakes:

1. You are incorrect (or possibly even not being honest with yourself) about "eating a little". Learn to read food labels and the tricks they use to make things seem "healthy" when they aren't. Learn to measure things. Buy a food scale if you don't have one.

2. You don't actually know what "eating a little" is FOR YOU. (It's different for everyone.) Track what you eat, and track what happens to your weight over time. This is really the ONLY way to truly determine how many calories your body burns in a day, so that you know what you need to eat UNDER in order to lose weight.

I've been tracking my food intake pretty religiously for two months now, and I always stay below 1,850 calories, which is my "lose .5 pounds a week" option. I still haven't lost any, maintaining pretty much exactly. I'm scanning bar codes whenever possible, but sometimes I have to estimate calories when I dine in a restaurant.

Is there something I'm possibly missing? I'm not a cook so I usually just add "canola oil 2tbsp" in foods that obviously have oil, and add 2tbsp of butter for meat-based foods. Is there something in restaurant food that's adding even more calories I might be missing? Or is that too little oil/fat to add? Really pretty confused t b h

This, I eat three meals a day and maybe a small, typically healthy snack or leftovers to go with it and I've never been at anything but a healthy or underweight weight.
>>
>>29567082
It's simple:

(How much you burn a day) - (How much you take in a day) = (Genetic multiplier) x (Speed of weight-loss)
with (Genetic multiplier) > 0

If you burn more calories than you take in, you lose weight! If you take in more calories than you burn, you gain weight!

Super simple stuff. You don't even need to know much about biology to comprehend that all you need to do is eat less than you burn. Of course, healthy diets help out a lot as you need to cover other stuff too while keeping your intake low.

I'd say I drink around 4-5 glasses of water a day. I know it's recommended to drink more, but I do have a glass whenever I think of it.

I don't run at all. My life is all-around sedentary. My job doesn't even require me to leave the house so I'll often stay in bed for most of the work day.

My weight is consistently 170-175, I'm 5'4'', grill.

What I've always wondered, is there no accounting for something less than sedentary? Is it possible they don't consider someone who's /really/ fucking sedentary, not even walking around an office all day? Am I at an even lower level, or is sedentary already assuming no movement, bedridden, etc.?

I went on holiday with a group of friends, 2 of whom are overweight girls, it was all inclusive so had a buffet daily and I was mainly having one plate of food then fruit for dessert, these girls were having fries and shitty food washing it down with coke for every meal, having 2 courses then cake for dessert and the complain how hard it is to lose weight

I'll try to bump myself down to 1,500 then. 500 a meal shouldn't be too bad to swing, breakfast was 477.

Exercise is a factor, but just in terms of sheer calorie consumption, it doesn't make as much of a difference as people think.

> and I always stay below 1,850 calories, which is my "lose .5 pounds a week" option. I still haven't lost any, maintaining pretty much exactly.

Where did you get this 1850 number? Online calculators and such can really only give you a starting estimate, but to ACTUALLY calculate how many calories you burn in a day (and therefore, what you should be eating 250 or 500 under) you kinda have to work backwards, i.e. track your calories and observe what happens to your weight over time.

If you are eating at 1850 and maintaining your weight exactly, then this means you are burning 1850 calories a day. (This is known as your TDEE, or Total Daily Energy Expenditure.) Therefore, to lose half a pound a week, eat at 1600/day, or to lose one pound a week, eat at 1350/day.
>>
>>29566900
One recommendation I will give you is don't worry about trying to run if you're fat. Especially long distances. Weightlifting is much more effective for burning calories and it helps you retain/build muscle while you lose weight. If you want to do the bare minimum to lose weight, just walk a reasonable distance 5 days a week and eat a specific measured amount of food on most days. If you don't lose weight after a month of this, just decrease the amount of food you aim to eat. You should be aiming to lose 1-2 pounds per week depending on how fat you are. Remember that this takes time, think about your progress in terms of 6 month milestones, not how well you're doing this week.

Above all remember that it's your opinion of yourself that matters most. If you know you're doing what it takes to change then it doesn't matter what other people think.

Oh, I thought I mentioned it, I'm using My Fitness Pal. I don't know of its reputation, but it does have an enormous catalog to search from, which is useful.

Thanks for the explanation, anon. I guess I was hoping for too much accuracy in a free app. Switching it to "lose 1lb a week" sets me a 1,590 goal, so I'll just keep in mind it's actually only .5lb for me. And any extra actual moving around I do will be a plus!

Speaking of moving around, does anyone know of more apps/programs that treat fitness like a video game? I've got Dungeon Runner right now, but there's only 6 levels on it, but I'm really liking it. Preferably things that don't make you go outside like Zombies, Run.

Not usually, though it might be worth mentioning I'm making the slow switch to vegetarianism, so my macros aren't having as much protein while I'm trying to find more non-meat protein-y things I like. I'll still eat some pork chops if I've had like 10g of protein that day, because I don't want to fuck myself up with this. So I'm heavily weighted towards carbs and fat every day.

The worst thing I eat regularly are those Talenti gelato flavors, but they've only ever got seven or so ingredients.
>>
>>29565765
My friends were wondering how I always eat twice as much as them when we sit together, until they realized that tends to be my only meal for the day.

>>29568065

Without getting into the pros and cons of vegetarianism, the one thing you should definitely eliminate as much as possible is sugar. It is as chemically addictive as nicotine and caffeine, and like any addiction, it will make you 1. want more and more of it, and 2. do/say anything to justify/rationalize getting more and more of it.

Without added sugar in everything (above and beyond, say, what would naturally occur in a piece of fruit) you'd actually have to try pretty hard to be fat.

In a general sense, don't think of all this as "going on a diet", think of it as "re-learning how to eat correctly."

45 minutes of basketball per day is pretty excellent exercise. Your brother must be chiseled.

Your exercise... well, it's kinda hard to call it "exercise", to be honest. It really isn't much and if it feels like much to you it really is time to step up your game.
>>
>>29568258
Something I've always seen conflicting views on is the fact of eating a lot of fruit. I do have a lot of sugar each day due to the fact that, well, most of what I eat is fruit. It's a rare day I don't eat a pound of strawberries.

Is that sort of sugar "okay"? I don't do any of that mess like putting confectioner's sugar on top of them--they're absolutely delicious as they are. But what I see conflicting views on is whether you should be limiting yourself in terms of how much fruit you eat a day (below calorie needs). I've seen it said that the soluble fiber makes it "okay", or at least less bad.

I'm definitely trying to relearn eating habits. That's why I thought my vegetarianism switch would go perfectly at the same time as weight loss, as it adds more sway to my eating decisions, and I'm thinking about everything I do eat.
>>
>>29565765
I dunno, there might be something to it. I eat nonstop tying to build up proteins I can train into muscle, but nothing sticks. I look like a scarecrow. Fish, eggs, red meat with every dinner. I swear, there are days I eat like 5 tuna cans. I don't even know where it all goes. I used to run 5 miles every day until someone from my gym told me to stop it, but even only doing it once a week, nothing builds up.

What am I doing wrong?
>>
That's pretty weak exercise, OP. 20 push-ups, and 30 sit-ups is probably barely enough to get your heart racing. That type of exercise isn't really fat-burning either. 30 minutes on a bike is okay, especially if its every day, but bicycling is extremely low-impact and what you burn in 30 mins on a bike, you could probably burn in 10 on a treadmill. I'm willin to bet his hour of basketball burns and equal amount, if not more, than your exercise.

As for dieting, the simply fact that you are already fat means that your daily calorie intake to remain at the same weight is alrrady higher than his (unless he's really muscular), which means you shouldn't even really even need to eat less than him to see changes. Most people just really over-estimate how shitty the things they put in their body are. Get a fitness app, log your calories, and you'll see the numbers.
>>
>>29568502
It depends on the person, anon. 5 push-ups for someone who can barely manage 2 push-ups is enough to get your heart racing.
>>
>>29567096
This. Fat comes from eating, not just by breathing
>>
>>29567090
>t. your asshole
you don't know what you're talking about. You have absolutely no reference whatsoever for the role that genetics plays in body tissue composition and its role in weight gain.

If you're going to be an adult, eer, you're going to have to admit that people are physically different and that this means that they have different challenges in life. It doesn't mean that anyone has an excuse to be a big fat pig, it just means that it takes a lot of daily effort for some while others never think about it at all or work on it at all and stay thin.
>>
>>29568558
True, but endurance exercises and weightlifting are just better exercises for fat-burning in general.

Still, that only really gives you less of an excuse. Like I said, your daily calorie limit is higher than his just for the simple fact that you way more. Coupled with the fact that it takes less movement to get an overweight persons heart pumping, theres really no reason why you shouldnt be seeing changes, unless you are just misunderstanding how many calories youre taking in.

I want to know your daily routine from start to finish, breakfast? Lunch? Tea? Supper? Snacks in-between?
Also on your bike, are you just throwing your legs around on gear 1 or are you actually pushing the peddle with force? There's a HUGE difference between the two
Also what food does your brother eat? Because he could be eating low cal food all day long if he wanted to, it's low cal so why not? Whereas you could be eating a bar of chocolate that's already 300 calories and call it a snack.

>>
>>29568648

No. Everyone - EVERYONE - has a TDEE or "Total Daily Energy Expenditure". You would literally be dead if you did not. This is how much energy (calories) your body needs to maintain itself at its existing weight. While various conditions can affect this number in different ways for different people, it is still an irrefutable fact that eating above this number will cause a person to gain weight, and eating below it will cause a person to lose weight.

Now if some people don't have the WILLPOWER to eat below their TDEE, that is a separate issue. But it PHYSICALLY can be done by literally anyone, and they won't die from it.
>>

Saturday:
Two pieces of Peanut butter toast for breakfast
10 chicken tenders and two glasses of tea for lunch
Bowl of clam chowder for dinner with a side salad with a little bit of French dressing

Meanwhile my brother ate:
Three bowls of oatmeal with sugary fruit for breakfast
Two pounds (!!) of ground beef with a side of salad drenched in raspberry vinaigrette (also high in sugar) and half a gallon of tea for lunch
Four (!!) bowls of chicken broth with celery, carrots, and cabbage for dinner

As you can see, he clearly eats more than I do, yet he's a CHAD and I'm a fat robot.
>>
>>29565692
The problem with that image is that people assume they eat a lot or they assume that they eat very little.

The problem with assuming you eat too much:

If you are a skinny individual trying to gain weight it can be very easy to go on about that whole pizza you ate and that you still didn't gain weight. Well the question is how much are you really eating on a daily basis? You must count your calories to make sure you are on a calorie surplus every single day. Not "I ate a whole pizza last week, why aren't I gaining weight?" I want "I am eating 4000 calories every day and on top of that drinking a gallon of whole milk every day." which is actually going to get you to gain weight very quickly.

The problem with assuming you eat very little:

Again, this problem arises when people don't count their calories. You might want to buy an electronic kitchen scale to measure out how much food you are actually eating. So people overeat without even consciously knowing, unless you are counting calories and weighing your food just to be sure. Another problem is that people sleep walk or otherwise get up and get into the peanut butter or other fatty food item at midnight and go to town. So they did a study on this where they tested how many calories a person on a diet was actually eating versus how many calories they were reporting. Looking at the results you could see that some people ate three times the amount of calories that they reported actually eating. So if they told you they were eating 1800 calories a day it would turn out that they were actually eating 5400 calories. A little bit too many cheat meals wouldn't you say? Maybe these women had food fetishes and every time they had sex every night they were stuffing their faces with cake. But it doesn't count because it's just a fetish. lmao.

If you are not serious about counting your calories then you deserve not reaching your goals. You are a dull and indolent shit.

This is true tbqh, I've tried to tell my mom this shit before and she always neglects to mention the Super Big Gulp filled with Coca Cola she slurped down or the "teeny" 550 calorie brownie she snacked on inbetween meals.

I'm not even a /fit/izen, (mostly because I don't sleep enough for gainz) but it's really not that hard to stay at maintenance as long as you avoid ridiculously calorically dense foods and drinks like the plague.

>Switch ALL of your drinks to water or flavoured water.

Try this for 2 months.

Peanut butter is *ridiculously* high in calories. Over in /fit/landia, where people are often intentionally trying to gain weight, the question frequently comes up, something like "I'm 200 calories short for today, how can I make it up quickly?" and the most common answer is "2 tablespoons of peanut butter."

2 slices of toast = 200 calories
2-4 tbsp of peanut butter =2-400 calories
That's a 600 calories breakfast, for two pieces of toast. Have a bowl of oatmeal or some eggs, maybe some fruit, and your breakfast would be half of that.

Chicken nuggets = 60 cals each, 600 calories for ten
Coupled with sweetened tea, thats probably a another 7-800 calorie meal

One bowl of clam chowder = 300 cals
Salad is another 200 on top of that

No, it really is mostly diet. One week isn't enough time to really make a difference. You have to watch for trends over the course of several weeks.

What actually happens behind the scenes when you lose weight is, when a fat cell depletes all of its fat, it then fills up with water, in the hopes that you will give it more material to store as fat. It isn't until anywhere from another week to another MONTH after the fact that it finally "gives up" and releases that water - and THAT is when you actually see the scale move.

In other words, when you do actually lose fat, you won't find out about it until up to a month after the fact.

MFP is good for tracking calories, but don't believe the bullshit in their scales and estimations for weight loss. it gives you warning when you go under your recommended calories which is ridiculous. I use it every day, but other apps and calculators are better for the actually losing weight part.

I use google fit (in b4 >trusting the botnet) and it's good. there are a variety of things it tracks, minimum daily goals to meet, etc. not quite a video game but the sheer amount of stats you have after a while starts to feel good. but if you don't even wanna leave the fucking house than you're up shit creek.

Drastically as in staying exactly the same and accounting for at most 5% caloric difference. So you eat 2000kcal and turn 120 years old. At most you would have to drop 100kcal to stay the weight you did at 18, and that's only if you burn 100 less calories per day.

Even that's bullshit though. Metabolism simply does not change. Sex and growth hormones and shit might change, but not metabolism.

>barely eat anything
Bullshit. Most likely you either snack a surprising amount without realising it because you have no regular mealtimes and focus on something else like tv or the internet while eating, or you consume a lot of calories in drink form - alcohol is surprisingly fattening.

Most likely you just don't realise how much you actually eat/drink
>>
>>29565764
This is exactly why it's a mistake to focus on "just exercise" when trying to advise people how to control their weight - "exercising" can mean very different things to different people, and often folks don't understand how much and how intensely you'd have to work out to burn off anything at all and think that doing 10 jumping jacks every morning equals "exercising every day!!" which means that they should magically be thin, regardless of what they eat

The focus should be on the diet. Exercise maintains muscles, but fat and weight are maintained through CONTROLLING WHAT AND HOW MUCH ONE EATS

It's not that major though.

>People who struggle to lose weight often blame a slow metabolism. However, numerous studies involving thousands of people worldwide have failed to find evidence to support the widely held belief that overweight people must have slower metabolic rates.

In fact, the opposite appears true: overweight people may actually have a higher metabolism than their leaner counterparts, reflecting the energy requirements of maintaining a larger body size. When you account for differences in body size and composition, there is a remarkable similarity in energy expenditure between individuals.

Research has also shown that people tend to eat more than they think they do. When asked to write down everything they've consumed in a day, many people tend to report eating far less than they actually do.

>Professor James Timmons, a metabolism expert from Loughborough University, gives your metabolism a closer examination.

This.

If all you care about is losing weight, you CAN actually do this just by fixing your diet. Exercise is really just a bonus.

But you will NEVER be able to out-exercise a shitty diet.

>"plate-sized"
That can mean anything.
What size of plate? What kind of food is on it? And how much and what do you drink?

It's easy to get too many calories on "one plate", if it's very high-calorie food. Especially if you supplement that with drinks that have a lot of calories. Fuck, I remember when I visited the USA, most of the "plates" I got served in restaurants had so much food it was sufficient for me for 2 days

Ranch salad dressing for example has 73 calories per tablespoon (which is not that much, most people put in an amount of dressing that's nearly 2 tbsb), which would require for example 19 minutes of brisk walking or 10 minutes of cycling to burn through exercise.

Also a lot of salads have bits of mozzarella cheese or olives drenched in oil or something like that in them, very rarely it's just "lettuce and onions"
>>
>>29571976
Why not though? If I continue to eat like shit but exercise won't I be burning more calories than before and either lose weight or at least get fatter slower

Because it's possible, easy even, to eat so shittily there simply aren't enough hours in the day to work them off through exercise. So if you let people assume that the key to losing weight is exercise, that you can keep on stuffing your face with snacks and fast foods and donuts and pizza and soda and chocolate and ice cream or cheese-coated stuff if you just work out hard a few times a week, it won't work at all. It's very rare to find a person who's willing and has the time to exercise hard 9+ hours every day just to burn the calories their shit diet packs in every day. For example, one serving of the bruleed French Toast at the cheesecake factory (I googled for high-calorie plates) packs in 2780 calories. You'd need to put in 7 hours of lap swimming, for example, to burn just that one dessert off.
An adult woman should survive on 2000 calories per day, and it's very rare to find people who'll eat just one serving of french toast and nothing but water for the rest of the day.

So if you tell people that you can eat whatever if you just exercise, it's bullshit because people will easily "reward" themselves with high-calorie foods.
>>
Fatties dont count calories and often lie by up to 1000 calories in terms of how many calories they consumed.
>>
>>29572315

>and either lose weight

no

>or at least get fatter slower

yes

Look up how many calories various forms of exercise actually burn. It's some, but not nearly enough by itself. It is SO MUCH EASIER to simply not eat the thing than to justify eating the thing with "well if I do 2 hours on the treadmill or whatever it will be okay."

Exercise is just a bonus. If you want to lose weight, you MUST MUST MUST fix your diet first and foremost.
>>
>>29572699
Fair enough. Still think it's possible to out-exercise an unhealthy diet (not 2000+ calories per meal) but what you said makes a lot of sense
>>
>>29572091

Those are for bachelors. Most guys in America only eat once or twice a day sowe like a big meal to end the day. The insulin release zonks me out good for the night. Even when I'm vacationing I prefer huge meals over eating like a girl with 30 meals a day and constantly grazing is between.
>>
>>29572834

>an unhealthy diet (not 2000+ calories per meal)

That's kinda what we mean by "unhealthy", i.e. a large enough calorie surplus to make you fat.

Technically you COULD lose weight eating nothing but convenience store garbage, shakes and twinkies and shit, AS LONG AS you keep the calories under your TDEE. (And there was a science teacher who actually did this just to prove this point to his students.) Of course, you'd feel like crap and you'd still be hungry like all the fucking time (because that wouldn't be very much actual food desu), and you'd have basically no muscle left when you were done, but it IS technically possible.

Skinnyfat boy here. Eating vs. going hungry is like staying in a pot where the heat SLOWLY increases vs. jumping into a boiling pan. I find more pleasure in having my body how I want but I'm an extreme narcissist. I still eat like shit though. I just do tren and dick around under the barbell 5 days a week. Steroids are fucking magic. I am constantly laughing at gymcel natty faggots. They autistically follow a ridiculous routine with warm-ups, progression, deloads, volume days, etc. and count the milligrams of boiled plain chicken breast they eat and look like shit. Meanwhile I literally just go by feel. I want to hit the delts I do it. Arm day? Sure, why the fuck not? Abs? They just happen maybe squat once or twice a week. The health risks are overblown and unrelated to roids. Don't do a nose full of coke, butt full of mdma, and fuck a tranny in the sauna when your blood pressure and heart rate is through the roof. Any side effect you think of these is a drug to fix it. Worst case scenario you don't like being fucking huge and you're out a few hundred dollars and have a fun hobby. People respect a big guy. People either fear me, want to get fucked by me, or most commonly, do both.

Two pounds of ~80% lean ground beef cooks down to about a pound and a half. Since you're almost certainly exaggerating how much he eats, lets call it an even pound

Your brother consumes a pound of cooked, drained beef and drinks a half gallon of unsweetened tea
You say you consume 10 deep fried chicken tenders (approx. 1lb.) and drink 2 glasses (approx. 1/3 gal.) of sweetened tea

In conclusion, your brother eats protein and drinks water, you eat fat and drink sugar

Do steroids. You'll look and feel better. I'm not certain it will improve your health but it certainly won't make it any worse than being fat. >>
>>29575926

There's nothing unhealthy about that an all. You have to consider the starting weight. Assuming he takes a multivitamin each day the faster the weight is lost the better it is for his health. Guys on /fit/ will do drugs and a protein sparing modified fast to rose a pound or more a day, and they don't count water in those figures. Some is glycogen but that is restored over two days. The majority is fat. For a natty that is a commendable rate of weight loss.

I'm curious though. What possible benefit could you see in losing weight slower?

Fatties never understand the basic principle of EAT LESS. Not eat less than your brother or your coworker, not eat less unhealthy food, not eat less frequently. EAT LESS THAN YOU CURRENTLY EAT. If you are gaining weight, guess what. You are eating more than you need. Not losing weight? You are eating at pretty much what you need to stay at the weight you are. Want to lose weight? Eat less than what you are now. Don't even need to change your diet, just change your portion. A trick I did was take my portion that I usually eat, then just put half of it back. Pour a bowl of cereal, look at it, then put half the cereal back (then pour in milk I guess I don't pour that back but you only use as much milk as you need for the cereal). Cooking ramen for lunch, put in half the cake and leave the other half for another meal.
