How good are you at writing cursive?
>>
I'm not too good at it, but I'm not too good at print either.
>>
Pretty shit, never used it often enough to see improvement and don't care enough to work on it on my own. Haven't needed it since elementary school aside from signing things.
>>
>>29556866
This. I pretty much never use cursive outside of signing receipts for pizza deliveries and they don't care at all about the legibility of the writing.
>>
Very. I almost always write in cursive.

I don't understand. You're actually aroused by letters?
>>
>>29556490
Fucking Terrible. I've never been able to write in cursive, but hopefully i can improve. my handwriting's always been complete ass, and im tired of it being brought up by literally everyone.
>>
I can only write my name in cursive and even then it looks like shit, growing up my parents tried teaching my cursive and I had a cursive workbook for kids but I FUCKING HATED it.

You can easily self-teach yourself to write in cursive if you practice it everyday but it's outdated and most people don't give a shit if you can write in cursive or not, granted it looks much more fancy than print.
>>
>>29556490
I can write the short version of my first name and my last name and it looks like shit. Nobody cares about cursive anymore because computers.

Enough that people say "you have nice handwriting, Anon". I learned the skills nobody else that everyone else hated doing in school, but that's about it. I'm not as good as the other guy who posted.

I'm really slow at it as well.

I only write in cursive since it's faster and I am not from Murrica but it's unreadable for other people if I don't pay attention and do it slowly
>>
>>29556490
I'm pretty good at it. I can write so much faster in cursive. It's sad that they don't teach it anymore.
>>

holy shit thats a lot easier than i thought

Why the fuck should anyone care about the way English is presented when the only thing that matters is the raw data expressed with it? Cursive was a shitty meme from before the age of print and at this point there's no reason to care about it outside of wedding invitations that want to look sophisticated for the sake of it.

This

There's no point in making something look beautiful if the content is shallow and mundane.

Cursive is a remnant of the empty Romantic idealism.
>>
>>29558981
Old documents are in cursive.
If you can't read cursive you can't verify printed versions of old documents because you can't read them.

Essentially a very few amount of people can rewrite history because no one else can read cursive and there's no one to stop them.

Similar to how (as another user noted) many blacks can't read cursive and so you can fuck with them.

>Implying I don't care about art

Art is one thing but cursive is bullshit. We have a thing nowadays called typography which is a legit art form while cursive is pretty much the Comic Sans of hand writing for people who don't know any other way to make their writing seem sophisticated.
>>
I'm not that great at cursive because i only use it to write my name.. but people have said that my print handwriting is the best handwriting they've ever seen. They say my hand writing looks like it was typed in Arial font.
>>
>>29556490
I vaguely remember being taught this barely legible but then so is my print

I don't disagree that cursive taught today is garbage. Cursive from 1830-1920 or so was awesome, though, and if you disagree you're a massive pleb. The stuff taught today can't compare.

Terrible. I fucking hate having to read someone's scribbled out cursive, too. Do they still teach this to kids? It's pointless.
>>
>>29558701
Can you write "Bruschetta with fresh tomatoes and basil"
>>
>>29556490
I think I'm still great at it, even though I haven't really used it since early 2012. My cursive is very close to what was taught in schools. I have noticed most people have developed their own scripting which is a mix of cursive, print and customized letters.
>>
>>29556490
Pretty good actually. Mostly use it in less than optimal situations so it looks bad. Being hunched over a low counter while using a pen that's chained to it, writing on one of those shitty tablets with big fingers, using a clipboard on my lap, ect.
>>
>manager writes detailed notes in cursive
>it's indecipherable scribbling

WHY DON'T YOU USE WORDS RETARD
>>
>>29556490
Terrible, my handwriting is incredibly shit and the only time I was taught cursive was 4th year of primary school. I just write printed, which also looks really bad
>>
>americans cant into cursive

i thought it was a joke, i live in the uk and everyone is taught cursive, people who cant do it are made fun of for being complete retards
>>
I always had shitty handwriting growing up. Then I took the purple pill and became interested in gentlemanly dandy pursuits after reading art of manliness. I poured a lot of time into researching because it didn't matter how slow or careful I was it was shit. Then I learned beautiful writing is in the shoulder, not fingers and immediately I improved by leaps and bounds. I was taught basic manuscript(I think block letters?) italics, and Palmerian cursive by family. I didn't learn shit in school because unless you get into Harvard first grade there is nothing to learn. I self taught Spencerian cursive: business flavor. I like that it has a good combination of speed, readability, and flourishes all while working with a ballpoint pen. It took time to not fall into Palmerian as I got in a hurry but I think it's finally in muscle memory enough that I don't have to worry anymore. I noticed using a thicker writing pen looks much neater too. I like the spidery thin writing you see in some ye olde personal journals but it's hard to emulate where a thick pen hides pretty much every little bump and snag up to the point you break out the magnifying glass.

Writing is a lost art and I'm sad to see it go. I'll likely never be a calligrapher but I'm easily in the top 10% of people alive when it comes to penmanship. No dunning Kruger either, people just are that bad at writing.
>>
I only write in cursive. I'm incapable of writing normally.
