Can I help you find something?
>>
That's a bad question to ask, because it can be answered with "yes or no". It's better to ask an open ended question, such as "what are you looking for?"

Hi, yeah, why would I buy a 24oz bottle of water for 1 dollar when I can buy a whole gallon jug of water--128oz!--for just 79 cents?

>they weren't

Fuck that target

At some stores, fly swatters are a seasonal item reserved for summertime.
>>
>>29555466
That is a big ol' ass, especially for a dude.

Understandably so but this was summer and the people they hire should be competent enough to tell me where the fuck it is instead of sending me all over the store on a goose chase

kek thanks. I'll write that down. I'm not actually THIS autistic (but close), but I get that sometimes they need the commissions and they have to insist; the situation is pretty annoying to me because of that.
>>
>>29555386
That shit pisses me off so much. No, I don't need you to try and fucking talk me into buying some bullshit that I don't need. Faggots like that are why I don't shop at brick and mortar stores unless I absolutely have to. Best buy is the worst offender by far. It's even worse since they don't even know what they're talking about.
>>
>>29556041
>Best buy is the worst offender by far.

Ironically Best Buy is the only culprit that actually ever does what you're talking about.
>>
>>29556140
I've had the same problem at Sears. Other stores don't do it to that extent, but they still ask me if I need help. If I needed help I'd ask, I don't get why companies think bugging customers is a good idea. It just drives me away.
>>
>>29556196
It helps prevent impulsive-thefts. Most shoplifts aren't planned. So if a customer knows employees are around and actively engaging people, he is less likely to give in to temptation and pocket an item.

AKCATUALLY

Asking open ended questions in a costumer service job like retail is worse in my opinion since some costumers would find it offensive, it's as if you're rushing them or trying to intrude on their shopping experience. I've seen some costumers tell employees

>"If I need something I'll let you know"

Or something like that, they aren't really jerks about it but it's better just to ask "Can I help you find something" because it sounds more polite than saying "What are you looking for?" They could just look at you and say

>"Why? What does it matter what I'm looking for? Why do you care? I might not be looking for anything at all, or nothing in particular"

There's lots of ways to answer that question in an asshole manner.
>>
>>29555414

That question is irritating. They're assuming I need help finding something instead of asking if I do or not. Makes it seem like they're trying to hurry me out instead of letting me fucking shop.

>I'm just looking, asshole. Mind your own goddamn business.

Some day there's not going to be any employees in stores. All the registers will be self-serve, nobody will be pestering you, maybe there'll be some voice-activated machine that tells you where stuff is when you say like, "Find butter". We already have the technology to do it right now.

Who knows what the job market's gonna be in like twenty or thirty years? Our welfare system is already underfunded, so it has all these stupid rules and regulations. For instance, I'm very poor but I can't get food stamps in my state because my roommates always have high-paying jobs. I guess the government has decided that they'll feed me if I'm gonna starve to death, so I'll be okay on my own. I don't know if we're going to be able to fund living wage welfare once it comes time for it being necessary. There'll be a very small upper class, and then a huge chunk living under the poverty threshold.

That's just how I feel about it, not what I would actually say to the person. Only a sperg would take something so literally.
