I've used this description before, /r9k/ is very much a graveyard board. All the other boards are out in the city living their lives, having fun in the park, or discussing technology, other hobbies, etc. Down the road is the decrepit graveyard with a bunch of shambling, soulless folk who used to be happy. Every now and then one of the town commoners tries to pass through and they get screeched at and chased for a little, but the rest of the time we're all just lost souls aimlessly wondering around like NPC's in a game.
