It crippled me socially to the point that I lost all my friends and I'm unable to make new ones, it drilled into my head impossible standards for women so that I'm met with dissapointement whenever I compare a potential gf to the ideal proposed by anime. Anime promised me my own harem once I got into highschool. I waited for years and got nothing while I could have been going out and make friends and actually get pussy. Anime is one of the lowest forms of entretainment, it offers little to nothing of value that can be applied irl and worse, it betafies men. I burned out after 5+ years of addiction. And it began the decline of my social skills and life in general. Locked away doing nothing but work, school, and WoW declined my limited social skills when I should've been out with friends or trying dating.
Didn't hit until shortly after I quit that I was actually depressed toward the end for all the meaningful social contact I missed. (Vent with guild buddies doesn't quite count.)
