what's the most robot-tier instrument and why is it bass?
post your instruments robots!
pic related, my bass
>>29545203
>what's the most robot-tier instrument and why is it bass?
it's not you normalshit, that iis literally a type of guitar
it's going to be some unique retarded dumb sounding instrument like the bassoon
This is obviously most robot-tier.
>>29545277
great choice actually, but I still think that bass is more robot-tier, as not a lot of people notice bass in songs. It's just kind of "there".
>>29545433
And most people barely even know what a synth really is, much less how to recognise one.
>>29545433
>not a lot of people notice bass in songs. It's just kind of "there".
and yet.. it's there.
I honestly don't even know how you can argue that it's the MOST robot instrument, when there are so many other better choices
just because you play the bass guitar and you think you are a robot doesn't mean the bass guitar is the most robot instrument
>>29545203
>bass guitar
Not robot
>>29545203
I play the drums, i'm not bad, but i really can't play in front of anyone. I got completely blocked and i can't move. I hate myself
>>29545539
maybe you think a lot.
I play guitar since I was 12, had to sell my guitars to help my parents with their debnts, feels bad man.
>six string
Shit taste
>>29545244
Bassoons are cool.
Throat singing or tuba are also contendors.
>>29545203
It is obviously the kazoo . YOU FUCKING NORMIE . GET OFF MY MONGOLIAN YAK HEARDING FORUM , REEEEEEEEEEEE.
>>29545617
Actually the most robot possible instrument is being into historically informed performance and playing like natural trumpet or sackbut or something
>>29545536
Give me a few examples then, f a m.
and ofc this is just my opinion!
>>29545539
Well if you want to play in front of others you just have to practice getting over it obviously!
I'm currently trying to do the same thing.
Anyway what kind of music do you play,
and did any certain drummers influence you?
I played drums for years before I switched to bass, shit was a lot of fun.
>>29545606
fuck you my man
>>29545203
>6 strings
For when musicians suck too much to accomplish it with 4 or 5 strings. 6 string bass is talentless autism incarnate.

obviously bait, but anyway...
>>29545700
Sitar
>>29545700
I mostly play jazz music
fav drummers:
Elvin Jones
Ndugu Chancler
Art Blakey
Ginger Baker ( not 100% jazz but still)
Sidney Catlett
Jo Jones
Buddy Rich
Billy cobham

>being this clueless
you realize there are things you can do on a 5-6 string bass that are impossible on a 4 string right?
>>29545785
Just get a Chapman stick, like Tony Kevin did when Pettrucci and Portnoy made Liquid Tension Experiment
>>29545836
that's like telling guitar players who want to try 8 strings to go learn to play sitar.
>>29545785
too bad that he only used the BEAD strings for like 90% of the song.
Also:
>dream theater

Don't have it with me but I play the Eb Tuba for an undisclosed professional brass band.
>>29545805
I... don't know a single one of those guys.
I'm a prog faggot if you couldn't tell that already!
Anyway, that's cool. Keep doing what you're doing!
>>29545836
I'll probably get one when I have some more $$, they are really cool!
Inb4 norman
>>29545877
Go learn to play sitar
>>29545910
Do you know some italian prog band?
They're very good. Try some Area, PFM or Banco del mutuo soccorso
>>29545700
All these angles of your stupid guitar makes me cringe hard af
>>29545834
Goddamn why do so many bass players not bother to learn anything about making music.
>>29545916
Trumpet is the most robot of robot instruments. You're just fine my friend
Ibanez s520 coming Monday, is this normie?
>>29545893
That guy obviously has a lot of groove & skill, but it's just not my type of music. I still have a lot of respect for it though.
>>29545893
He still plays with a 6-string most of the time though. That's my point.
>>29545901
That's pretty cool. I wish you the best of luck with that!
>>29545941
No, I've never heard of any of those guys.
Feel free to send me links and I'll check them out!
>>29545965
Sorry. I just didn't want to take multiple pictures in the same or slightly different angles.
>>29545834
>>29545980
Have fun with severe wrist pain down the road
Source: my father who was a bassist for 40 years, and my bass teacher, both of which played 6 strings 90% of the time
>>29545617
Why is tuba robot tier
>>29546065
Just realized I responded to the same post twice.
I'm fucking retarded.
>>29546070
I play double bass though, not bass guitar.
I was just commenting on the guy's shit tier compositional and improvisation skills. Lots of bass guitarists in particular suck at composing.
I still have my classical guitar around, should I try to learn it back /r9k/?

>>29545805
Another bassist here. Can you recommend some Elvin Jones albums with him as a leader I've mainly heard him as a sideman.
As far as drummers I've been really into Roy Haynes lately, and I've been going back and listening to Clifford Brown/Max Roach albums.
>>29546134
You are clueless about anything you actually said.
I'll be waiting for you to show me some of your great compositions and improvisation skills, instead of trash talking a guy who is obviously better than you on both that and any technical department when it comes to playing bass.
best beginner bass in the 300-450euro range?
I actually played like 7 years ago but I had to sell my bass, now I want to play again.
I've heard good things about the sire v7
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fJim4aZCrjk
>>29546234
Those Sires are really good for the price, I got to try one a few weeks ago, great basses.
Here is my bass. Picked it up about 5 months ago, really fun. I tried guitar but I suck at strumming so I went for bass, don't regret it.
>>29546151
Well that was pretty unique to say the least. I don't really think that's anything for me but thanks for sharing anyway.
>>29546183
Looks pretty sweet. I'm more of a Les Paul fan myself, but I don't really know anything about guitars.
>>29546234
Squier jazz? Yamaha trbx?
DISCLAIMER: I actually don't know shit.
>>29546265
Looks really cool, any chance that we can get a better pic of it?
>>29546395
What amp do you use?
>>29546395
Here you go friendo, I did not like the colour at first but it's really grown on me.
Only harmonica blues can truly capture the pain and passions of the robot
but Beethoven is the most robot artist, his roboticism permeates almost every note of his major works
>>29546594
I saved money for about a year just so I could buy the bass. I got an old medium sized amp for free from a friend. I can't tell you the model or brand of the amp though as the entire amp almost melted when it was in a huge house fire years ago. The sound is alright though, even after all of that.
I'm currently saving money for a good amp.
>tfw poor as fuck
>>29546626
dude that looks awesome. I'm usually not a big fan of red basses/guitars but that one looks really good!
I'm almost a little jealous.. :^)
>>29546924
Good luck finding an amp then. Try guitar center's used site, the prices aren't as cheap as eBay, but their return policy is excellent for trying things out.
Are Drums robot tier? I do notice other drummers are a little strange. Like Ringo Starr. He was easily the most robot of the Beatles.
Keytar is most robot
Kazoo is most reddit
>>29545203
I own a 4 string squier bass but cant be fucked to go take a picture of the thing or look it up. I want to practice but end up laying in bed browsing 4chan all day
>>29545617
I can throat sing and I play bass, not a robot btw only a complete autist
>>29545203
autographed by victor wooten fender jazz bass reporting in.
>>29547176
Thanks, I'll keep that in mind.
>>29547489
My tier list from most to the least robot in a normal band: bass > keyboards > drums > guitars > vocalists
So I guess they're cyborgs??
Although this is only what I believe from my own experiences and I'm probably wrong.
>>29545203
>tfw i play the memetar
Wish i took up piano instead desu. At least I play robot music (jazz/classical)
>>29545617
Fluttertongue on bassoon is badass. Really underused
>>29546635
Geirr Tveitt is the most robot classical composer.
> He spent more and more time at the family farm in Kvam, keeping his music to himself - all manuscripts neatly filed in wooden chests. The catastrophe could therefore hardly have been any worse when his house burned to the ground in 1970. Tveitt despaired - the original manuscripts to almost 300 opuses (including six piano concertos and two concertos for Hardanger fiddle and orchestra) were reduced to singed bricks of paper - deformed and inseparable. The Norwegian Music Information Centre agreed to archive the remains, but the reality was that 4/5 of Tveitt's production was gone - seemingly forever. Tveitt now found it very difficult to compose and gradually succumbed to alcoholism. Several commentators imagine that his many hardships contributed to these conditions. Tveitt died in Norheimsund, Hardanger, reduced and largely embittered, with little hope for the legacy of his professional work.
Who /vintagedrums/ here?
>>29547800
That's cool, whats the story behind that?
>>29547934
if by /vintagedrums/ you mean /haven'tchangedmybassstringsin12years/ me
>>29547707
If you want to play any instrument at all you have to be inspired and find it fun to practice!
I actually spent my first months just playing the songs I liked for fun before I started looking into any scales or music theory.
>>29547800
Fuck you motherfucker. That is fucking amazing, I'm jealous as fuck.
Sweet bass though!
>>29547979
I don't think that's what he meant.
But change your goddamn strings!!!!!!!
>>29548020
I boil them once a month, they're super clean and have a supercrispy sound, I'm never gonna change them tbf
>>29547979
Yeah, change your damn strings. I change my drum heads almost every 6 months.
>>29547934

He came to Uruguay on his tour, so I took my bass with me the day of the show. I had to wait a few hours for victor at the end of the show, but it was worth it. He gave me hug, got his autograph, also met Krystal Peterson (she's gorgeous) and victor's brother regi.
I'm new to bass guitars is an Ibanez Gio good?
>>29548100
Aaronn?
>>29548252
Sorry, don't quite know who that is.
>>29545203

It's the ibanez low range brand. They are alright for begginers.

How uncool is a keyboard? My dad bought me one ages ago. It sits in a cupboard somewhere.
>>29548374
Pretty sure it was 1800 pounds, and I can honestly say I'm 100% satisfied with that price.
It's an awesome instrument to play. Not to mention how handsome it is
>>29548452
I'd imagine that most people think they're pretty lame, but if you're really good you could surprise the shit out of the normies with your sick skills.
Personally I think pianos/keyboards/synths are pretty cool and I have a lot of respect for those that can play them well.
>>29548509
Damn that's a lot. Glad you're happy with it though.
And you're right, it's handsome as fuck!
>>29548721
That's the catch though with piano's though isn't it? Even the digital ones, especially the new models like the 605 are Very expensive. I was saving for at least 5 years for it
Is 19 too old to start learning to play guitar?
I was always interested in playing it, but I'm afraid normie kids are gonna make fun of me if I show up to classes
>>29548755
They won't make fun of you bro. I've seen 30 year olds take guitar lessons.
>>29548747
I guess?? I really don't know much about pianos & all that stuff.
I only know stuff about drums & bass!
>>29548755
No, why would you think that?
Go for it f a m, playing an instrument is a lot of fun once you get the hang of it! Just be ready that it usually takes some time to get to that stage. Don't give up!!
Does anybody have any experience with that ~$500 Schecter 5 string bass? I can't remember the model name or I'd link it, but it was white and the neck was fairly thin. I need something a step above my shitty $200 Asian one that doesn't even have a properly aligned bridge...
>>29548374
Is that a fuckin treble clef fret inlay on a bass?
Jesus christ.
Looks good otherwise
>>29545203
SHeeeeit nigga, is that a spector? Looks great
>>29548831
>SHeeeeit nigga, is that a spector? Looks great
It's an ibanez BTB I think.
>>29548755
I didn't start playing bass properly until I was 20.
I played guitar prior to that but to play the bass properly they aren't approached the same, nor is all of the technique the same.
I didn't start playing drums properly until I was 20 either, never had a lesson but my playing of bass and drums is on recordings and I am playing live bear in mind I am 21
>>29548841
Oh wow, it is, I just saw the headstock photo. Totally looked like the Spector logo at first glance.
>>29548831
>>29548841
Yeah it's an Ibanez BTB.
Bought it at a local music store for about 5.500SEK about 7 months ago.
Should I get a swamp ash for alder sire v7 bass?
The swamp ash costs 60 euros more than the alder version.
Should I pay more or isn't there such a big difference in sound because of the woods?
>>29549034
If you have the extra $$ go for swamp ash, if not just go for the alder. It doesn't really matter THAT much!
DISCLAIMER: I don't know shit, I'm just saying what I'd do.
