I lived in The Third Ward/The Tre/GTW in Houston as a kid.
There was a "I don't fuck with you, you don't fuck with me" type of attitude.
You had the occasional gang shootout and people getting robbed from time to time.
I lived on a cul de sac that was pretty much off limits for crime because the local church's pastor lived there and we were all normal families with kids.
Basically it was all good until the lights went out, I had a curfew all the way until I moved out so I wouldn't get jumped coming home.

I lived in the ghetto in Las Vegas. It was unpleasant and full of cultural enrichment. Lots of LA gangsters go there when theyre on the run.

I live in the 'white' ghetto. My area's mostly controlled by hells angels and while it's nicer than some of the major black communities out there it still gets under my skin all the fucking time.
