i went to a psychologist and there wasn't really anything to argue with. he just guided the conversation, asked me to consider some things and it was pretty nice. don't know how much good it did, but i had insurance that covered it at the time, so it didn't matter.
No, I portend everything is fine and he keeps me on lyrica, propranolol, and ativan. I'm not complaining.

What's it like not living in the American shithole?
tl;dr I've come to the conclusion that maybe I should just listen to the professional as I clearly don't know how to fix my life on my own.
Months ago I was heavily recommended to be placed on anti-depressants numerous times - one occasion he wouldn't let me leave the appointment until I agreed to take them (But I waited it out). I adamantly refused because I didn't want to rely on pills to feel "normal" and I didn't want it to jeopardize me getting/keeping jobs.
Flash forward to 2 weeks ago and I was at an all time low and started self-harming (Something I'd never think I do in my life) as well as just being in an overall dark place to the point my job forced me to go check into a mental health ward.
I started taking Prozac a few days ago (I know that's babystuff compared to what most of you are on but I don't want to go full sedation mode yet)

My therapists and I were never really on the same page and subsequently we never really made any progress. I guess it's my fault for being so averse to CBT, I couldn't have made their job any harder had I tried. I'm convinced hypnotherapy is the ticket.

You realize that the entire point of this "therapy" industry is to try to delude people into not committing suicide / being useless non-workers right? But it touts itself as some kind of surrogate family/friends construct. Don't be fooled just because some one is momentarily paying attention to you: they do not care. It's an artificial relationship and is guaranteed to be fruitless in terms of assisting you to reach your potential as a complete human being.
Don't rely on the medical industry to make you well. It's totally corrupt. You may get snippets of good advice or helpful medical services here and there, but for the most part you would be better of avoiding all of it.
Work with the strengths that you have and train yourself. Make friends. Form community.

We've never really raised our voice at each other, but we have disagreed on a lot of things. He thought my plans for my future were too ambitious and that they weren't going to work out, so he wanted me to move in with my family. He thought I was too ill to be in school anymore and that I needed a break from everything. I don't know, I never really thought that was what was best for me, so I'd try to change the topic.
It just kept escalating as my mental health got worse. He started accusing me of avoiding his advice and he said that all our talk didn't mean anything if I wasn't making real changes to my life. One session, he asked for my permission to talk to my family, so he could discuss my living situation with them. I told him I'd think about it.
I never went back to him. I felt like what he was suggesting was essentially just me giving up on school, work, and everything that I was trying my best to keep up with. I was afraid that there'd be no going back if I dropped out and moved in with family. I felt like a giant failure to be hearing him suggest something like that and it upset me a lot. I winded up dropping out anyways though, so maybe he was right after all. Maybe I'm not really meant for anything important. Maybe I'll just be one of the billions of background characters who have boring lives, mundane jobs, artificial relationships with other faceless nobodies, and then I'll die without having done anything remarkable or interesting. My epitaph will just be whatever default thing that the funeral home gives my family, like, "Anon died in his sleep at the age of 76. He is survived by his three children and his wife Nancy. He will be remembered as an incredible father, friend, and husband." Just stupid, emotionless facts that don't mean anything.
