The problem is that the word love is used by many to describe entirely different things.
That oneitis you had in primary school was an infatuation backed up by Disney-esque definitions of love, but you would have called it love.
I've seen codependent relationships which have lasted for decades, they would call it love.
Love could be defined as the flood of feelings and memories that you associate with a person/object.
Love is defined by many as a feeling of one-ness, sometimes this is just the infatuated spouting romantic gibberish. Many real and lasting relationships are built on empathy, ideally the 2 partners would be very similar to one another.
