I don't use Steam because there's no logic in paying for games that enforce always-online schemes and other DRM shit that dictate when and where you can play. Steam transfers physical games to digital, then adds copy-protection schemes that didn't exist in the original release.
I'm perfectly happy to invest in physical media, but I do research the existence of copy-protection before making any purchases.

I just got Stardew Valley a few weeks ago and I liked it, although I feel it's slightly over-rated. The villager interactions aren't that great, and it involves lots of slow walking back and forth over the same maps before you get your horse. And combat isn't too great.
But it's a great time waster and if you like farming games or fulfilling achievements its a good one.
