Doctor gave me this along with my SSRI for my anxiety and depression.

Experiences? What should I expect?
>>
>antipsychotics for anything other than psychosis/schizophrenia

get a new doc
>>
>>29474952
With all honesty, FUCK Abilify.

I took it, twice, maybe three times, but it made me feel as though I was actually sitting on the wall. I lost coordination and felt as though I was going to vomit at a moments notice. After that, I just stopped taking it.

I don't know how it's going to work on you, but if it makes you feel like I did, tell your doctor immediately. That shit is no joke.
>>
>>29474966
It's _suppose_ to treat bipolar disorder, but I have doubt it.
>>
been on abilfy hated it (im bipolar)

SSRI's will ruin your dick fair warning
>>

I quit Paxil three years ago and my romantic and sexual interest still hasn't returned.
>>
>>29475029
OP here.
I already used SSRIs for 1.5 years and I still have a good sex drive. I just take a long time to shot my semen, specially when I get oral sex but other than that I feel pretty horny most of the time desu.

I had a shit reaction to Abilify.
> 1 month into taking it
>severe anxiety/panic attacks out of fucking no where
>lasts 8-12 hours a day
>tell the psychiatrist
>"just keep taking it goy"
>end up in the psychward 3 weeks later

I haven't touched those fucking pills for 2 1/2 years and I still get anxiety/panic attacks time to time. I'm in AISH now because I can barely work. Life's pretty much over because of it.

Don't fucking take it op.
>>
>>29474952
Get out your flip flops, your gonna die!
>>
>>29474952
These threads are fucking stupid. Everyone reacts differently to medications, so other peoples stories are fucking useless for finding out what you should expect.

Read the side effects, know what to look out for, and take them for a while, that's how you find out what it's gonna be like for you.
>>
>>29474952
Expect to gain weight. Stop taking it now.
>>
>>29474952
To pay a shitload of money for it.
>>
>>29477182
>implying this isn't good for me

I'm a skeleton.
>>
>>29477356
It was fairly cheap desu, 30 pills of Paxil and 30 of Abilify ended up being 20 american dollaridoos. I'm not from the US though. I'm actually from South America, but at least here we have decent prices for pills if you have a health insurance plan.
>>
>>29477389
What the FUCK

I couldn't pay for it because it was LITERALLY $700 GENERIC
>>
>>29477407
What country? I've not ever heard of any country that charges that much, your doctor has to do something or another to make it cheaper, but they literally all do as long as they're common drugs.
>>
>>29477459
In the United States of America.
>>
>>29477358
I was a skeleton too and now I'm obese. Its not better.
>>
>>29477407
Are you sure, man? Even with the discount I get as healthcare benefit (60%) it won't even get close to the number you mentioned.
>>
>>29477517
Yeah, its an expensive medication designed to be on patent for a while longer than older atypical antipsychotics (even though its no better). Its fine if you are ACUTELY psychotic, but If I could do anything I would go back in time and tell my former self to NEVER take them. I thought they would just innocuously help me sleep where Ambien wouldn't, but I went from 155 pounds at 5'11 to 250 in a few years and can't lose it. DONT TAKE THEM EXCEPT IN PSYCHOTIC EMERGENCIES!!!!
>>
>>29477487
That doesn't make sense to me really, there's heaps of programs in the US that say they're mandated to offer heavy discounts for people with any sort of insurance, including public, like the medicaid programs.

They're higher than other places unsubsidised in the US, but you should have access to subsidies.
>>
>>29477576
I'm 120 lbs... at 6'0.
So that ratio of weight gain does not seem that crazy. Maybe you were eating like a pig? There's no way you can move from average to obese just with this.
>>
>>29474952
Abilify AND SSRI? Your doctor is batshit and should be fired immediately.
>>
>>29477576
Mate, you have no idea what you're talking about.

You gaining weight is one of the easiest handled side effects of the medication, and doesn't happen to most people. The only reason you can't lose the weight is you're eating too much, not because some medication made you ignore scientific laws and get energy from nowhere.
>>
>>29477628
No I was eating the same before and after. They alter the functioning of your pancreas, look it up. They have SEVERE side effects, and offer you no benefits that can't be gotten by Lithium or Lamictal. They are designed to make the makers and the doctors rich. Repeat, DO NOT TAKE THEM!!!! PLEASE ROBOTS LISTEN!!!
>>
>>29477640
Thanks Dr Anon, care to explain why he's wrong? Because Abilify has nothing that makes it incompatible with an SSRI.
>>
>>29477647
It happens to a LOT of people. You are a pharm rep shill. I was exercising and eating the same as before. Most meds don't ALTER your pancreas working.
>>
>>29477711
No they aren't incompatible but heavens, why take all those meds? Will ruin your sex drive and make you balloon up for WHY? What do YOU get out of it? Remember, medicine is a business. Never forget that. Read up on long term side effects and patient experiences before you take it, PLEASE!
>>
>>29477705
You really should stop talking, you're just making yourself look stupid.

Your story is not the case for everyone, side effects like weight gain happen but are easily managed, and the only reason you've kept the weight on is that you're eating way too fucking much, as it was the case on the medications. I guarantee if you count calories, you'll lose it.
>>
>>29477718
The pancreas has nothing to do with weight gain, we don't really know why some meds make you gain weight. And no, you weren't. It is physically impossible to gain and keep weight while eating less than you'd need to maintain it, that's just how it works. Energy has to come from somewhere. An increased appetite and feeling like you're never full is what causes weight gain.

Calling someone a shill isn't an argument, either.

>>29477733
Abilify is meant to be given with an anti-depressant actually, stop talking like you know what you're talking about, because you clearly fucking don't.

Remember to trust your doctor, that's spend the best of a decade studying medicine and how the body works, then specialised in the field and completed a residency in it with medical advice, not some random retard on the internet that's looking for an excuse of why he's fat.

>>
i took that shit and i couldnt stop shaking my legs and all this sporatic shit it was bad you shouldnt take it for anxiety and depression, docs are fucked they will just perscribe shit hoping it will work, try it if you feel like it might help but know you can always stop if the side effects are fucked

Abilifybot reporting for duty! Rew rew rew rew rew!

Anyway, it's been a great few months! I feel like I can be somewhat normal now! I'm not spending 2 days+ without sleep, working on my business, and having fun!

>We love abilify,
>We don't really know why
>At least we don't pout
>And at least we don't cry.

No, I'm not. Shocker, people can disagree with your stupid fucking opinions without being paid to do so.
>>

kek oregano 87
>>
Is this supposed to help anyone? All I've read is that it causes major symptoms like ticks. Some dr made me take them when I was a teen because I was depressed and my mom paid $300 per small bottle and I feel awful because she was just trying to help me, when it was clearly a scam. They didn't do anything and just gave me panic attacks and make my head twitch.
>>
>>29474952
Oh Aripiprazol!

The "I did nothing" pill.
>>
>>29478064
DONT TAKE THEM! oreg
>>
>>29478064
It does, yes. Here are some sources for different disorders.

Shows it's efficient at treating psychosis.
Shows that when used to augment normal first line anti-depressant treatment, the efficiency is increased at treating depression.
Shows that it's somewhat efficient at treating OCD patients, though less than another common antipsychotic, quetiapine.

>>29478110
Fuck off retard.
>>
>>29478142
Kek, sorry, linked the same study twice.

This is the one for depression treatment, not the one I linked in the first post.
>>
>>29478142
Its often used without antidepressants.
>>
>>29478262
It's not used for pure depression without anti-depressants usually, as it's not super efficient at doing so. Usually if you're on it and aren't psychotic or OCD, it's being used to treat stuff like emotional outbursts, sleep issues, a whole heap of stuff.

But it's not even intended to be used alone for treatment of depression, that would be pointless to do when it's more efficient with one. Even from the "big pharma muh shills" point of view, giving them two meds would make more sense.

Also, the OP is one an SSRI as well, so he's on a well understood and common treatment plan.
