But there are benefits to having a waifu that isn't real. One of them is that they can provide an anchor point that cannot be broken. The easiest way to describe it would be if your were getting tortured. People often try to hang on to a singular thing during torture, say their wife/gf, which can be taken away from you as there is a possibility they don't love you/they're cheating on you.
