The main issue is the friends thing. I've had some adventures, but it's harder to get down to adventuring solo. Cash helps a lot, but you can do it with next to none if you're committed.

If you live in America just take a trip on the Greyhound. It's cheap as fuck and you meet some interesting people. Many of them are crackheads, though.
