Hey robots, neets, and normies.
Cooking is a useful pastime that can help one gain confidence, learn a skill, increase nutritional intake, and fill a void in even the loneliest of hearts. I personally have seen a big boost in my mood since I've started cooking; it lets me be good at something and have a gift to give friends and family.
so,
> have any of you all taken up cooking this summer?
> what are your go-to dishes?
> do you cook for comfort or nutrition?
> do you have any regional types of food (japanese, italian, german, etc) that you prefer?
Feel free to post recipes, stories, or advice!

I made taco fries the other day
>tfw just made some tzatziki
added a bit too much lime, and not quite enough garlic, but otherwise it's excellent. also, my mum recently bought a really nice dutch oven, going to break it in with some wine braised chicken legs tonight
drinks are another thing I do well, probably gonna make this again for the 4th, might make it sooner

bumping with other food I've cooked

Memes aside, food rarely is enjoyable to eat. After eating I always feel nauseous to the point I want to puke (I don't do this because I don't want my family to think I'm bulimic).
Aside from that I'm rarely hungry and don't feel like eating a majority of the time. I even don't prefer to drink anything either, apart from water and alcohol.

see a gastroenterologist, you might have Crohn's or something. also, weed helps a lot with appetite
>>29445095
>Signs and symptoms often include abdominal pain, diarrhea (which may be bloody if inflammation is severe), fever, and weight loss.[1][2] Other complications may occur outside the gastrointestinal tract and include anemia, skin rashes, arthritis, inflammation of the eye, and feeling tired.
You're really going for a stretch here.
Some Mahi-Mahi I made a while ago
Stuffed Flank Steak with Creole hashbrowns

it's the first such condition I thought of, I'm not a gastroenterologist. if you really want to know what's wrong, go see one
>>29445234
looks nice, though I don't eat much seafood
some welsh rarebit, probably gonna make it again tomorrow
>tfw no samson bf to cook for you
>>29445776
if you live in or visit the sf bay area, I'll cook for you
>>29445866
Sadly I'm in the poopC area. Do you ever use allrecipes.com? I think it's neat that people can upload their own pictures of their results for recipes. Do you like to make bread?
>>29446000
sometimes, though the quality of recipes on there varies, and I never follow them exactly. I suck at baking, largely due to my disdain for measurements

my chinese boss runs a dinky little sushi shop and, after three months, has let eat one of the steamed pork buns she brings for all the chinese workers. i feel... so loved.....
>>29446323
she and her husband usually have family members over and they eat authentic chinese shit like stews and soups and steamed bread, and im finally allowed into their food klub. its like i have a new family.
i just hope their business does okay and they dont go under. business has been a little slow.

Ah, you're probably intuitive in the kitchen, like if you had a handful of ingredients to work with you could put something together. When and how did you get into cooking?
>>29446323
It looks so good. Your job sounds comfy.
>>29446323
>steamed pork buns
lucky, they are so damn delicious
>>29446387
pretty much, allergies and cash shortages have forced me to learn how to improvise in the kitchen. I've been cooking to some degree since about 10, partly due to familial influence, but mostly due to my ravenous appetite and somewhat picky palate
>>29446408
my job is very comfy, anon.
everyone is very nice and gets along well- 3/4ths of the staff is chinese, either immigrant or abc, and the rest is white. but the entire staff isnt more than 15 people, and its never very busy.
everyone treats each other well, and there's a big sense of family. my boss is a little chinese woman and she really treats me like a mom would, which is great due to my whacky family situation. she even lets me drink hot tea when im not feeling well. they have rice-paper style windows, and everything is very cozy
i literally love my job. i love it so much and am so thankful that i have it.
pic related, it's a picture of the dining part.
>>29446497
What allergies? What are foods you don't like?
>>29446912
nightshades (tomatoes, peppers, potatoes, eggplant), shellfish, artificial coloring and possibly almonds. I dislike fish, eggs (when they're not in pastry or mayo/aioli), mushrooms (though it's really just the texture I dislike, I actually enjoy the flavor and smell), and boiled greens
>>29447086
Thank you for the samson infos.
>>29444526
I enjoy italian food a lot, since sauces are easy to improvise with. I never really got any recipes from the internet, rather from books and family knowledge. Honestly, I love the fact that I can cook my grandma's recipes on lonely nights. Warm food on the stove has an aroma that can really keep the feels at bay, and kitchens are cozy as shit.
>playing soft music on the radio
>window open, night breeze comes in
>hearing sizzling green beans on the stove
feels SO good, man
>>29444526
I mostly cook pasta
>>29447251
no prob
>>29448152
hell yeah, sauces are the shit, especially with meat. cook it with wine, fat and garlic then reduce, it's always gonna be good
>>29448335
do you add anything to it? I usually add some olive oil and cheese if nothing else
i'll eat something like this maybe once a week, ideally i would have added mushrooms, more broccoli, and maybe some cabbage.
usually for lunch i'll have a 4-6 oz fillet of chicken or tuna and whole wheat pasta or brown rice. i don't add anything to the pasta but seasonings and a little bit of olive oil. i think i'll start incorporating a salad (lettuce, tomato, red wine vinegar, and black pepper) into my lunches too.
>>29450513
Holy fuck this looks delicious. What kind of seasonings?
>>29450544
spicy peanut sauce and a little bit of cayenne since the sauce isn't spicy enough for my liking. a little bit of garlic powder too, all cooked with cottonseed oil.
>>29450513
>>29450603
sounds so damn delicious
>tfw can't eat peppers

>>29444726
>>29444973
>tfw have an eating disorder
>but it's binge eating disorder
I love you, food
>>29451414
I know that feel. when I make something truly delicious, I often can't stop myself from consuming it all
>>29451489
try "can't stop myself from consuming" everything all the time
last night I left my house at 3am and drove to the grocery store only to see that they were closed for some reason, and then drove two towns over to the next closest grocery store, so I could buy 2 boxes of snack cakes and 3 pints of ice cream
the snack cakes are already all gone.
>tfw my period makes it 10x worse
>>29451246
why can't you eat peppers?
