cooling pads for a laptop. does it work ? my laptop overheats

cooling pads for a laptop. does it work ? my laptop overheats really fast and starts to slow down and ive thought about trying a cooling pad. any tips ?

My laptop used to just switch off from the heat when playing vidya. Bought a cooling pad and now it doesn't but it's loud as a motherfucker and uncomfortable to carry around.

If you can, try Taking off the back and cleaning/replacing the fan.
If not just go look at cooling fans within your price range and go for what has a good review online
