This is why I hate slang. It just gets to the point where you might as well speak another language. This is coming from a guy who uses slang because I know it's the only way to communicate with people. Have you ever read Middle English in its original spelling, anon? It looks exactly like that. Before spelling was standardized, there was a lot of alternate spellings, possibly within one text. Moreover, how language eventually turned out is arbitrary too. There is nothing that makes 'completely' more justified than, off the top of my mind, 'kompletly' or 'completlee'.

What would make it more justified is that a unified spelling system makes it easier for people to transmit information to others. If everyone spells things differently, then there is a larger chance for misinterpretation of meaning. Some words have similar spelling and could, if unified spelling is ignored, be confused for the other word(s) with similar spelling.
There is a good reason spelling is standardized, and it may be arbitrary how language turned out, but it is certainly sensible. I used there and their in this very post, two words that have very different meanings, and thus show the importance of having a standardized unified spelling system.
The way languages evolve over time is both good and bad. It is good, in that new words can be added to the language for things that weren't previously present, but it is bad in that change in meaning for a word (as might happen with heavy use of slang) can confuse people unfamiliar with the new use of the word but familiar with the old usage. Change in meaning is not necessarily bad, but any confusion or misinterpretation is not good for the transmission of information, the point of a language.
