This, I'm minoring in Philosophy and majoring in Mathematics. The thing with philosophy is that it's all about what classes you take. There are certainly a lot of useless or next to useless philosophy classes that don't focus on critical thinking, but instead focus on memorization of philosopher's positions. But, there are a lot of good ones that will help you think critically, and build your writing skills. For instance, even my introduction to philosophy course had a professor that started his own business, submitted position papers to the American Bar Association, and got his PhD from Columbia with a dissertation on propositional calculus.

You think that will be the case 20 years from now?

They'll be fabricated from the micro scale with perfect precision and functionality and built in an automated factory.

You'll be able to use your engineering degree for that janitor job.

They're already making new medicine by running hundreds of tests a day in a dumb trial and error systems, as opposed to one test every 3 days by medical scientists. And this is using real materials, in a few short years they will be running 100,000,000 simulated tests a day.

I fell for the Computer Science meme when I just want to be a code monkey. Just want to vent for a bit. These algorithms are killing me. Data structures are easy enough to understand. I've gained alot of respect for the guys that created so many complex algorithms that are used everyday. Why am I in a field meant for literal geniuses? Before I started the course I did alot of self study. I was happy making simple programs with JavaFX and finding coding solutions here and there on different sites. I would really enjoy using Unity too. But now I've learned that Comp Sci is really just expressing math solutions through code. And I'm shit at math. Fuck my life. And no one wants to give me an internship. This is fucking NYC!! Give me real world experience you shits!! I just want something nice on my resume!! I'm fucking Black too! I thought the diversity meme would help me get one, but that doesn't seem to be the case. I even made a nice appeal to IBM, made up some bullshit story about how I'm dedicated and always willing to learn...Shieeeet.

Long story short, how do I get an internship? Do I have to make the next Angry Birds or something?

Gotta look for the schools that have 1 year masters programs if you do you undergrad in the same degree. No GREs, no applicatiob fee, just need a decent gpa and some recommendations.

But if you just settle for a bachelors the undergrad research is defacto job experience with the chance of getting your name on a paper. At maximum you should be able to get an average associate scientist position, minimum would be a lab tech.

You really need to look into the job market.

t. biochemistry major with a 3.8 GPA.

So does business, but this is r9k. If you don't network in college while getting such a degree, you leave there with a piece of paper. Robots are too autistic for that.

Ah, I see. How can I get better at networking?

Computer Engineering is where you do half the work of an EE major, a quarter the work of a CS major, claim you're better than either, and end up working as a software developer with less training than a CS major.

>It's not like I strive to use perfect grammar just to be snarky on 4chan.

sure, you were just purposefully using incorrect grammar to be ironic right?
also couldn't take the time from your hectic schedule to read the pic huh?

you used an apostrophe where there shouldn't be one and i would hope someone with a masters degree in english would know that
and its not even like you can fake your way out of it either, because not using the correct punctuation would result in a lack thereof; you genuinely thought it was the correct grammar.

That's kind of irrelevant to the point I'm making, though. Aside from the odd course on advanced English grammar and structure that you might take in linguistics, I don't think many English programs (undergrad or otherwise) focus on what you're describing.

Make fun of bad syntax if you want, but acting like he's a dummy for not living up to his grammar degree is sort of missing the point of what English majors do.

I'll tell you what's the most fucking useless degree: general music studies. I went to college passionate about classical music and because I play an instrument. And now I'm fucked after getting my degree because it's not something you can make money in it at all. I'm not good at anything else though. And I wouldnt have the patience or drive to get a STEM degree. I'm financially fucked with this degree. I deserve it though. I chose it.
