Try shaving it with a razor. It might sound painful and hard to do but if you take your time you should be fine. Apply aftershave and aloe cream the first time to reduce rashes. I started shaving my butt weekly some time ago, since I had the same problem, and now even if I get super sweaty as the weather here is pretty hot and humid, my ass won't smell like anything. It will also help you a lot if you're sexually active as your partner will surely notice the improvement.
