If not, then it's time to go door-to-door car washing, cutting grass, etc. You are in emergency mode, so you have to act like it.

Not sure about Canada, but in the US, the MAX is 450 a week. and most UI schemes pay according to your previous salary.
As for making money, I don't know. I have a friend who has been trying to get ANY job for over 6 months with zero luck. Things are right fucked for a LOT of people, so planning for a LONG stint of joblessness is always a good strategy. Make your dollars fucking count, I'm talking rice and beans.
