Do it, bro. You won't regret it. Fishing is god tier. It's never too late to start. Look up your state's srocked trout waters, buy a cheap prespooled pole and reel, some terminal tackle, and some nightcrawlers and powerbait all from your local walmart, watch some youtube videos on how to tie the terminal tackle for fishing the bottom for trout, and go out there and catch some fish. Tight lines.

Nah, bro. Bobber is okay, but fishing the bottom is the universal standard, as in you can target most of the worlds fish species like this. Basically you slip on an egg sinker , tie the end of thr line to a swivel, which stops the sinker, then tie on about a foot of line to the other end of the swivel, and finally tie a hook at the end of the line.
Use a size 12 treble hook for powerbait.
Use a size 10 normal baitholder hook for worms.
Use light line for trout. 4 pound monofilament works great.
