Depression and anxiety are manageable in a signficant other, especially when they have the motivation to do something about it themselves.

Your nuts m8. Some people don't respond to meds well. That is a bad situation to get in, because if you build an emotional bond with a depressed person it becomes very hard to pull away. You don't want to see them as hopeless as they are, and they rely on you for many things. It's a really unfortunate situation to be in. Personally, I wouldn't get involved with someone who is currently struggling with depression outside of being a friend maybe.
