On the 4th but currently taking a break to read the Call of Cthulu.. If there's one thing that goes vastly underrated in many people's lives, it's the ability to have taste refined to a specific enough point where there is a clear line of what you should read/watch/listen to next, but you just don't have the time. THAT's a comfy feeling.
>>
>>29358318
lotr is good but the characters have literally no personality, decidedly not comfy

>>29358391
ghostwritten
>>
>>29358465
The Silmarillion is by far my favorite book of all time. Read it about 5 times now. Sure it's not just a single story but it's still amazing.
>>
LOTR is trash, both the books and the films
>>
>>29358256
try out Gregor the Overlander, personally my favorite series I loved them as a kid and I love them now
>>
>>29358583
someone is angry. Thanks for adding to this discussion, your input is really insightful.

You couldn't bait any harder if you tried. Fuck off.

Do you know where I can find Tales from the previous realm for free? I've already found the rest
>>
>>29358256
Lost Generation books are LITERALLY the comfiest book. There's nothing better than comfying up with some drinks and some Hemingway.
>>
>not His Dark Materials

>>29358391
shit Redwall series is comfy as fug
>>
>>29358634
>not His Dark Materials

Those books were comfy indeed
>>
Where do you guys even read?

I would enjoy reading but my family and their TVs would make too much background noise and I would never be able to read.
>>
>>29358652
try using audio books then senpai, might be something that would work

thought i was the only one who ever read these books! way better than the hunger games but no one knows about them
>>
>>29358652
Earphones and something ambiance-ish works for me. I usually dip into the Godspeed! YBE when it's dark and I'm reading something like "The Road".

Strangely enough these days I find myself reading more reloading manuals (Lyman, Lee, sometimes Hornady) along to some j-pop.
>>
>>29358634
his dark materials seems kinda interesting. the daemons aren't furtrash right?
>>
>>29359097
Not really, they're more a physical manifestation of the soul. The mechanics of the daemons are a bit more complex than that and slowly explained/discovered in the books.
>>
>>29358391
Eulalia!
>>
>>29358600
I loved this series. Way better than the Battle Royale ripoff the author made afterwards.

Looks like I'm going to have to school /r9k/ on what a good childhood book series is.

Book of the New Sun has its comfy moments. Sailing, the play in the autarch's garden, the waterman looking for his waifu.

FUCK YES HARRY POTTER IS THE COMFIEST FUCKING SHIT

AND THE FUCKING WIZARD
>>
Dostoevsky's version of Russia is exceptionally comfy. His books are filled with betas finding themselves with romance and luxury thrust upon them.
>>
>>29358256
The Vampire Chronicles was pretty comfy
>>
>>29361982
Oh shit, anon. I was just about to post this.

The first two were comfy as fuck. Especially the room the interview happened in.

Good taste, anonbo

Harry Potter and The Chronicles of Narnia were my two favorite book series throughout school.

Not a series, but did anyone here ever read Coraline? Nobody else in my elementary school really cared about. Being a boy in the 4th grade, I felt odd how much I liked it.

Also, Holes was my shit.
>>

I'll be sure to check it out.

Has anyone here read Momo by Christian Andersen? (The neverending story author). Really cool book.
Cool thread everyone, keep it up.
>>
>>29358391
Agreed wholeheartedly
Redwall was a great series
>>
>>29362753

Both are by Michael Ende.
Hans Christian Andersen is someone else.
>>
>>29358256
No. I've read them multiple times and listened to the audio book multiple times in my language and english and I plan to do it again. I don't even know what it is about HP but it's just great.
>>
>>29358468
>comparable to Tolkien at his best

Tolkien at his best was literally a philologist, a comparative linguist and historian.
>>
>>29363367
not him and I dont agree or disagree but none of those are qualities that necessarily make him a better writer
>>
>>29358444
Good taste anon. The movies gonna be shit tho
>>
I haven't read any of them since I finished the 7th when it was released

Now I only read books that feed my depression
>>
>>29358652
I read rather late at night (before going to bed) to avoid sounds. Also occasionally with soft piano music playing in earphones if necessary.
>>
>>29358444
Red pill me on The Dark Tower series. Is it good?
>>
>>29361411
Heyyy my man. Everything by DWJ is awesome
>>
>>29358391
