Honestly? Emo/goth-ish girls. You know the ones I'm talking about. The ones with the blue hair and the Invader Zim fanfiction and the Organization XIII coats and the Emily the Strange arm warmers who shopped at Hot Topic and listened to MSI.

Also, this is more late 2000's, but playing crappy newgrounds electronica on loop on my family's shitty, boxy-ass computer while I browsed forums, slurped Top Ramen souper meals, and waited for toonami. And old youtube. Old youtube poops and walrusguy.

Lastly, going back to early 2000's, I miss waking up really early, when it was still dark, and turning on my TV with low volume so my parents wouldn't hear me watching Zoids: Chaotic Century.

>Hurr it's always nostalgia

The Internet is small as fuck now.

You no longer have someone making massive sites in geocities or something dedicated to Pokemon, The Offspring, or anything they're a fan of. There's no reason, because nobody would look at it. Everyone looks at only a couple sites per day now. Nobody goes to google and just looks for new sites anymore.

All of the free newgrounds games made in flash have been replaced by paid games made in Unity.

We really took that kind of person for granted back in the day. They were cancerous and annoying back then, but now I would trade every individual Brony for a million Invader Zim fangirls. What happened to them? Maybe all those girls grew up to be the cunty feminists we have to deal with today.

i started middle school right before cell phones became a thing. i had to call people on my parents' landline. they told me to get off the phone if they had to use it.

without the internet, i would've been the biggest pleb. i watched cartoon network and nickelodeon mostly. sometimes mtv. that's how i learned about stuff like blink 182 and jay z. beyond that, "hip" culture could only be attained by having a magazine subscription or knowing someone cooler than you. that was literally it. i didn't have either. but once we got the internet, i could read anything and everything that interested me. which, i will say, is one of the GOOD things about normies being on the internet. much easier for them to plug into cool shit and LEARN that there's more to life than cell phones and degenerate faggotry.

>insist that they're collecting everybody's emails and listening to everybody's cell phones and tracking us with robots

I WAS FUCKING RIGHT, KRYSTINA, AND I'M STILL RIGHT
>>
>>29359373
>Maybe all those girls grew up to be the cunty feminists we have to deal with today.
that's exactly what happened.

it's like women have no sense of past events. they just jump onto whatever is trendy. for instance, if you look online at an older guy's favorite music, it's usually older stuff, that he grew up loving, with some new stuff thrown in. but women list almost exclusively new stuff. like no regard whatsoever to the stuff they grew up liking. unless it's ironic (I LUV JOURNEY 5EVER)

i notice the same about their politics/ideals/whatever you want to call them. there's no sense of balance or wisdom of experience. no sense of mixing new ideas with old knowledge to form an original point of view. i see women around my age (27-33) using the same buzzwords as 18-21 year old girls on tumblr. not a HUGE age gap. but definitely enough to remember the world without smartphones and instagram and reality tv. like are you really using the word "patriarchy" with a straight face on your fucking dating profile. are you really using the word "wanderlust" and calling yourself a "netflix bae." what the fuck are you doing. have you not transcended the fadspeak trendy bullshit meme. i mean, it's fun. i use slang. but... ugh no thanks.
>>
>>29359373
there is literally nothing edgy about that picture

The signal to noise ratio was insanely good. Back in the day -- there used to be good forums to post on. Does anyone here remember Totse? It was a website dedicated to freedom of speech but it had a number of boards that became famous:

better living through chemistry -- this was the junky board where people would post actual guides to synthesize drugs. It was moderated by a guy who had an IQ in the high 190s+ who would post crazy shit about creating HIV vacines. He was also a pedophile ... but that's another thing entirely.

networking & security -- home to some of the biggest script kiddies on the Internet. It was a classic hacking forum where all the actual hacking took place else where. Back in the day users from N & S pulled off some hacks that became legendary. There were people on this board that could drop a quarter of the Internet down by hitting every major router and backbone network. We're talking some major, major shit. They also hacked a bill board one time which is quite lulzy.

bad ideas -- mostly filled with faggots trying to break into houses and steal shit but -a lot- of stuff went down here. A new kind of discipline was invented here called "night ops" where autists would dress up as ninjas and attempt to break into military instantiations, police stations, and high security buildings. It started as a joke but developed into an actual discipline.

I could go on about everything that happened. The history of Totse was legendary and outlives the site itself. But where I'm getting out is how cancerous the web became compared to what we had. There just isn't that unique mix of fucked individuals any more. Just boring, normie content and stupid memes. We never even discuss stuff, ffs.

Newgrounds ain't the same anymore.

I guess it happens though. The creators took a more corporate turn working on games professionally and having meet ups at places like mag fest.

In order to boost their image and status they had to get rid of the super edgy material.

They also had to make the place more appealing to people who can't take criticism (the deviant art crowd) to boost popularity.

YTPs
I would remember laughing hysterically to them, I thought that form of humor was one of a kind.

Now you have shit like Tim and Eric and the Eric Andre show that are basically watered down versions of it.

Also, Super Deluxe is makes videos that are basically just straight up YTPs, and these fuckers get paid as professional comedy writers to produce shot for Adult Swim.

Maybe if my 12 year old self had gotten a copy of Sony Vegas back in the day when this was still in it's infancy, I could have honed the craft and actually have a career.
