Chinese and Japanese are the absolute shit tier of language. They're the only modern languages that don't stick to an alphabet. Arabic and Hebrew don't have symbols for vowels.

Yes they both have, but they're usually not written out, since it's not needed. When they are written out however, the alphabets become very simple to read since it's practically phonetic.

I think English is unique in its writing system. We're really a kind of master language, borrowing as needed. Korea definitely had the right idea with Hangul. Hanzi is cool and has immense value historically and culturally. They made a simplified Mandarin but we need something better than pinyin if China really wants to become relevant beyond basic manufacturing. So much potential but there is still a huge perceived barrier between the US and China, and that's mainly due to the unfriendly language of theirs.

I wish my parents had forced a language on me when I was younger and it was much easier to learn.
If I somehow ever had a kid, I would hire a trainer and force him to learn Japanese. Make him watch 100s of Japanese movies. What I wouldn't tell him is that I know Japanese, too. That way, when he is speaking loudly with his friends or muttering under his breath in the language, I'll be able to understand him. This will give me a window into his psyche that most parents don't have, cause his guard will be down.
