I just bought a french press, but I've never been a big coffee drinker and I've heard adding cream and sugar to pressed coffee is basically a waste. Any input from you fancy coffee drinkers?

Depends on the type of beans you buy. If I buy some that are strong, I add some whole milk. If the beans aren't overpowering, just drink it blackHonestly though, just drink it however you want it man. If you want 3 sugars and an oz of cream, go for it
