How did your childhoods affect you in the long term?

I now have borderline personality disorder and schizoaffective disorder. I have only been put in the loony bin once though because I threatened my mother with a kitchen knife.

So yeah. I've moved to another city. Can't say I have a normal life, can't say I desire it either. Living alone, no gf, almost no friends.
But you know what? Fuck it, I'm free, and reasonably happy. People are assholes, or can be. Ultimately you're on your own, no matter how blessed of a life you may live. Coming to terms with that fact may mean the difference between life and death, depending on the circumstance.
The meditations by Marcus Aurelius helped me through a lot when I was going through a lot of shit.

Went through the same thing but I didn't end up with a disorder or do anything like that.
