I was in the Grenadier Guards from 1995 to 2008. I enjoyed it, really.
During my time in I retook my GCSE exams, took A Levels and when I finished I did a variety of strange jobs then started a degree. I live a quiet life. The Army didn't make me, but it helped me and I liked it. It's just something I keep in a drawer.
It's not right for everyone but you'd be surprised at the spectrum of people you meet, especially in the Infantry.

Each Branch varies but in the army when you do a PT test, you have to do a height and weight eval. If you "break tape" you'll be required to do twice as much PT as everyone else, even on days off. If you fail twice they have grounds to chapter you out without you receiving benefits.

I joined and after 10 years it made me depressed, anxious, and PTSD-riddled. I was a virgin robot with zero social skills going in and I still was one after.
After I seperated it took me years to learn how to deal with my mind problems and not kill myself. Becoming a wizard was legitimately shit. But after some time I got a little better so I was able to go back to school. I'm doing a lot better now and I'm getting good grades but I still have head problems, no friends, no gf ever.
