fuck i was there one day and i was pressing the screen and it said sending assistance i spammed the screen idk what i tapped. Im pretty sure an employee was right behind me watching what i was doing i quickly scanned everything and got the fuck out

I hate this. Not because of social anxiety but because it's a dumb system. If you scan something you're paying for it, why does it matter where you put it afterwards. This isnt some security measure because you could easily just not scan something while making it look like you did. I really see no point for this feature except to waste everyone's time.

The bag area is basically a big scale, and every item has a certain weight in the database. This is to keep thieves from scanning something cheap like a kool-aid packet and then putting something more expensive like a steak in the bag.
If the system detects any weight discrepancies, it will set off the "customer needs assistance because he's retarded" alarm.
There's also a dedicated button for things you want to put directly back into your cart.
