i am a huge anime fan and soon there will be a costume party at my school.
i normally dont go out with friends and thought about costumes. i found this ( pic related). now my question is

Don't dress up as an anime. Dress up as a reference to a current event. I suggest dressing up as a gorilla and having a black baby doll with you. Bonus points for having your friend dress up as a zookeeper with a gun

nobody will recognize it as tokyo ghoul as that's not a very mainstream series however it will be clearly recognizable as anime. so it depends on how comfortable you are with being the weird anime kid at the costume party.
personally i recommend sticking with the mainstream when it comes to cosplay. anime can be mainstream, but only if you're like... a ripped chad dressed as goku or something.
