What is /r9k/ listening to? I'm listening to Summoning's best album imo.

Minas Morgul is even better though
But any fan of Summoning is a friend nevertheless. Favorite band forever.
Also check out Caladan Brood. Cleaner and more epic than black metal but they're basically a Summoning tribute, and no one has ever complained of too much Summoning.

Listening to Love and Death
Dol Guldur and Stronghold are my favorite

Never got into Summoning. Love black metal but I don't like symphonic influences in metal.
>>29310136
Reporting.
Listening to this. It was disappointing at first but It's slowly growing on me.
>>29310030
OP here. Caladan Brood is amazing, I might even like them better than Summoning.
I'm listening to some real music here

Checking out Grave Miasma's new album.
>I might even like them better than Summoning
Let's not get carried away, lad.
Listening to a 15 minute long depressive suicidal black metal track I've been working on the past few hours.
Who here /ritualistic blackened-death metal god-tier masterrace/?
did any of you cunts even read the malazan book of the fallen
Agalloch - Marrow of the Spirit at the moment. Such a great album, I'm sad they split up.
>>29310297
this is very good too
>>29310313
>>29310288
Original meant for this post.
>>29310327
Malazan is fucking amazing so far, Caladan Brood got me to start reading it.
>>29310313
I actually just saw that band live at Maryland Deathfest. They were pretty good live. Dragged Into Sunlight after them though were the best band I've seen in my entire life, a truly transcendental and incredible experience, really crushing and disgusting.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BY33xb5Lf7o
>>29310288
I don't know if I do like them more than Summoning but I gotta admit, their two Summoning covers are better than the originals.
Deeply sad they haven't released anything else, but I remain hopeful that some day...
>>29310330
You had to go and remind me Agalloch split up. Damn you anon.

>tfw going live house hopping in Tokyo next month
>>29309388
I bought a Summoning patch a few weeks ago, pretty neato band. More of a Caladan Brood guy myself, though.
>>29310330
Ashes Against the Grain and The White are my favorites by them, but MotS is very good as well.
>>29310330
yeah it's sad, but the creativity of the band was getting off in the last albums so i don't feel this too much.
>>29310327
Not yet, but I plan on starting this summer.
Apparently it's also perfect for robots. Really excited about reading it but I have a shitton to get to before.
Also, nothing like waking up to the eye of Sauron staring into your soul.
>>29310394
I'm in the minority here, but I thought Serpent and the Sphere was fantastic. My favorite will always be The Mantle though. The White is a masterpiece too imo.

Did you listen to the new Mitochondrion/Auroch split? Its pretty sicc
>>29310367
Love the aesthetic of Dragged into Sunlight and I'm sure catching them live is fucking wild, but I've never been into their music.
This seems like the thread to ask: any bands whose music is Similar to Manowar's album Gods of War? Something between power metal and symphonic? Preferably with heavy organ use or harmonized guitar. (Not sure what you call it, but guitars using pitch shifters I guess.) Or maybe even metal covers of classical music.
>>29310433
>>29310433
indeed, it was a good album but i don't think it was fantastic, and by the way, The Mantle is favorite too.
>>29310472
It's extremely rough and only features guitars and sparse vocals, but it's a start. Despite almost all my music I listen to being metal, I perform as an ambient/drone/noise artist.
https://maelstrom-ambient.bandcamp.com/album/-
Also the Mito/Auroch split is sick as fuck, I love it. Both mighty bands, they were both great to see live.
>>29310557
Check out Sabaton. I think you'd probably enjoy it. Never listened to Manowar for more than a minute or two, but I think Sabaton would be your best bet.

When did OP or any other Summoning fans ITT claim it was "le trve kvlt bm"?
If you can't enjoy something simply becauss it doesn't belong in your magical specific genre then I got news for you kid
>>29312006
"false metal"
Come on m8, metal is a silly genre in any case. I love underground cult low fi blackened ritual death metal as much as anybody else, but it's not something worth trying to be tough over.
>>29312291
>>29312294
Not one to hate atmoshit since I like a decent amount of it, but Summoning was always just so cheesy with their sound.
>>29312327
Still, who the fuck cares if it's you who likes it?
Why would you prevent yourself from liking anything based on a certain trait it has?

I'm entitled to my opinion even if it's shit to you. Black metal needs some better guidelines because it's way too all over the place with releases. Too much stuff is considered black metal when it really shouldn't be.

the intro to that album with the fucked up recorders or whatever screetching is one of my favorite things in music ever
Saint Pablo goes the fuck off and Ye made a great choice adding it to the album
this song is about a fedayee, before and during the armenian genocide fedayees fought off turkish and kurd attacks on armenian villages.

Nah m8, Magma is mediocre compared to the rest of their discography. They outdid it with their debut. Pray is the only song that stuck, the rest of it was just boring. I get that repetitive riffs are a centerpiece of their music, but it just didn't mesh well here with the new tone and the progression of most songs was standard. The clean vocals didn't really bother me, they sound better than the Oli Sykes shit Joe's got going on these days. Overall, not bad, just disappointing and also kind of bad.
