Add to that scorpions, centipedes, black snakes, giant nocturnal wasps(?), oversized speeding ants, giant mosquitoes and those large black beetles that cling to your clothing for dear life, and that would summarize my region during spring and summer. I can't open my door at night without dozens of bugs opportunistically swarming into my house, and most of them bite or sting.
Had to make more than one ER trip just over the scorpion stings. Those assholes tend to crawl into shoes and laundry baskets.

If you aren't bad with animals and don't lose interest and just let them die you might be the right person to get a tarantula. They won't keep your house clean because they cant roam around freely (you are not supposed to intrude their domain once they feel at home or they wont feel safe/comfy, contrary to what most owners do). But i promise you if you respect their territory and they "forget" you are there, they are really nice pets. They do so much awesome stuff! I've got 3. i like watching their behaviour every once in a while.
If it is just about the insects, wait for one to settle down under your ceiling in the corner and dont disturb it. Theres a good chance it will stay there because thats where every insect goes. Had a guest spider like that in my old apt and it kept away all the awful bugs.

You can't really domesticate them, but they do tend to grow accustomed to humans and become less skittish over time.
I keep mine in a tank which was originally for giant snails and small reptiles.
If you treat them well and create a nice habitat they won't escape... unless you have a male in which case they'll try and escape to find a mate when they mature.

I hate summer. It's too hot and bugs are everywhere. I got sunburnt really badly because I was dumb enough to go to the beach with my friends. I hate the beach and pretty much any other summery place. Fall is by far the best season.
