If you absolutely have to, just go to a store where you know they sell plenty of different gift cards, look for a temporary VISA card, then put X amount of money on the card. You can buy whatever you want online with it and there's no purchase history that I know of. Also it's safer because the only money that criminals would hypothetically have access to would be whatever amount you put on the card.

Torrents only live because people seed them. But people rarely have an incentive to seed, other than out of principle.
So on most public trackers, torrents die pretty quickly.
For media like movies/photos, this also means the worst quality version is often seeded most because it has the lowest file size, while other higher quality versions get little to no seeds.
There's also issues with DMCA takedowns, as anyone can find the torrent.
Private trackers put in place rules that give people an incentive to seed, and so torrents die less. They also make it harder for DMCA takedowns to occur.
