I do it to keep sunlight and heat out. It makes the AC much more effective, especially if you can put poster board behind it, on the side of the window.

OP, you should look for someone with an archive of something we called DNSyndrome. It's so fucking oldschool that I don't even remember the year, maybe '07 or '08. It was a glorious few days where due to technical issues the newfags didn't know how to get on. I've got a bunch of threads on an old hard drive but there's fuck all chance they'll be found. Someone out there must have some of them. I'll keep an eye on this thread in case some turn up. Robohitler came from this time and I watched it all in real time.
