So what exactly is the big deal about Tumblr, like what if I just wanted to make a profile and re-blog cool pictures and stuff that I liked? I get that it's associated with SJW's and what not but does it matter if you just have a Tumblr just because you want one? I think you can find some pretty cool pictures and shit on Tumblr, also let's be real here. A lot of people on 4chan get there pictures from Tumblr and just change the file name, I know a get a lot of my pictures from there.
I mean, sure, you can get pictures off 4chan from other users but usually you see pretty nice reply images and cool stuff on Tumblr. I figured if you stay away from the SJW/Landwhale profiles then it isn't really a big deal.
It's a decent website with some decent communities and, as you say, a lot of good pictures, as long as you avoid those you mentioned.
People just act like it's the fucking Communist party headquarters because they saw someone say 'go back to tumblr' once and then mindlessly regurgitated it to be like the cool kids.
From the way people talk about it'd you'd never guess there was a pretty strong far-right/Nazi presence there, too.

It's basically the same as here. Most boards or tags aren't anything to do with politics, just whatever topic they actually are, with the very occasional spill over into them, but it's discouraged.
Same as if you come here and go on /out/ or somewhere, you won't see all the stupid /pol/ shit, or even the ridiculous gender politics of this board very often at all, stay off the related tags on tumblr and you won't ever see their equivalent.
The audiences for both sites are very similar really, just different memes and opinions, but they both act the same about it.

Not really, the big subreddits are kind of shitty, but not worse than any other forum, and there's a fair few people that know their stuff there too, it's about as meme filled as here, with less in discussions.
Smaller subreddits are great too if you need info about a niche topic.
It's just places like SRS that give reddit a bad name, but they're hated even on the site.
