I just want to write this to vent. I fucking hate anime bc it ruined my life. It crippled me socially to the point that I lost all my friends and I'm unable to make new ones, it drilled into my head impossible standards for women so that I'm met with dissapointement whenever I compare a potential gf to the ideal proposed by anime. Anime promised me my own harem once I got into highschool. I waited for years and got nothing while I could have been going out and make friends and actually get pussy. Anime is one of the lowest forms of entretainment, it offers little to nothing of value that can be applied irl and worse, it betafies men. I have renounced watching anime and suggest you robots do the same. Anime is the cancer that grows inside you and makes you autistic. After a few weeks, you won't even miss it.

I was once like you. At the beginning, I sincerely believed anime had the potential to be the ultimate medium to tell a story. But throught the years, I grew bitter and cynical and realized that the creators behind the shows (and manga) weren't interested in making engrossing storylines. They were happy crapping out the same shit every year. Not only did the market become saturated, it is actually harmful for the viewer. Japan isn't the otaku utopia that fans in the west make it out to be. Being an otaku is just as much as a stia in Japan than in the west and ehy wouldn't it be. It promotes being detached from reality, obsession and social isolation. Being an otaku is a bad thing, both in Japan and in the west, bc it ruins you.

Most robots could be decent human beand if they actually tried. It would be hard, but possible. But why should they when anime offers an alternative to harsh reality? i'm only messing man. I get what you're saying cuz it's literally me right now. I can watch a show like Hunter x Hunter and just lose myself in the world and lore and then have fantasies of myself as Gon or something, beating up people and having cool powers and having friends and going on adventures. Because, it takes me out of this shitty reality. I literally have just sat around self-inserting myself as random anime protags because I couldn't be dicked to study.
I have watched at least 6 episodes (a lot more most of the time) of anime a day for the past 2 years. Literally hundreds of shows. Hundreds of stories that aren't real, and just take up space in my brain.
Honestly it's horrible. I was top of my class in highschool, then i got obsessed with anime the summer before college, and it just filled my brain with these nonsensical fictitous stories. I could have used that brain space to study. I could have used those hundred of hours to study for tests. Maybe i'd still be on the path of engineering. Who knows.

This. I actually got addicted duing highschool. 4 years of my life I spent countless hours on show after show while I could have been making friends. I remember the sadness and loneliness but anime dulled the pain, it temporarily distracted me of how miserable I was. I finished highschool this year and realized that I had no memories of it. Only me, sitting in front of my laptop, watching episode after episode of anime. I finished highschool with no friends, shitty grades and feeling like a failure.

well, i suggest to just quick before college m8. block nyaa or whatever site you use, and just focus on college if you're going. The first week of college if the perfect opportunity to meet new people because no one knows each other, and no one actually judges you (don't listen to the fags here). If you don't want to approach people, just leave your door open and someone is bound to invite you to dinner in the dining hall or to play Frisbee.
Don't let the mistakes you made in high school determine your future. You can still reinvent yourself the first week of college.

Just today I went back a re-watched the first episode of Cody Lyoko and immediately cried afterwards.
