Everything doesn't revolve around you.
Very little does, in fact. Your biological, economic, intellectual, social, and spiritual contributions to humanity will likely only be felt on a very localized scale, and even then only temporarily. Unless you are a celebrity or some sort of public figure, your death will only be noticed by a few hundred people, a couple thousand if you're lucky; of those, maybe a couple dozen will show up at your funeral, or feel any serious grief over your passing. Most will be largely indifferent; some might even be happy to hear the news. Most likely, you will not die as a martyr for a noble cause, or while saving people from some terrible calamity, or attempting to break a speed record; instead, your end will probably be heart disease, cancer, the slow deterioration of your mind and body, or some sort of accident involving a vehicle or heavy machinery. If you are terribly unlucky, your death will come at the hands of a violent criminal or terrorist, although you are statistically more likely to die by your own hand (deliberately or not). Your metadata, bank accounts, and estate--your social media presence, family photos, legal will, government records, life insurance policy, and personal effects--will ensure your footprint carries on for a few more years, maybe a generation or two if you've prepared well and were prudent with your finances.

A physical reminder of your existence will remain, for a time. If you are a Christian, Muslim, or Jew, you will most likely be buried according to the customs of your faith, a stone marker erected in your honor. In a well-tended cemetery, this will last for decades, a century or two even. Someone will come by every now and then to cut the grass and scrape the moss off of your name, but they will likely have no idea who you were. If you were cremated, a plaque in a mausoleum will be your final address; ironically, this might actually last longer than the stone edifices outside your front door. After a few generations, your name will mean little to nothing; a day will come when it is spoken aloud for the last time. The vast majority of humanity will have been completely unaware of your existence.

And yet, despite all of this, you are loved. You are cared for. To someone, perhaps even to many someones, you are important. People will fight for you, brag about knowing you, and give you a ride when your car breaks down. People will be proud of you, happy for you, worried for you. They will laugh with you, cry with you, drink with you, build things with you. In the tiny corner of the world you occupy, you are uniquely and incredibly important.
