I'm 42 hours in after I quit smoking cold turkey, I don't know how long I can last, It's literally the only thing I'm thinking about constantly, a cigarette
>>
>>29252231
Youre gonna think about it, temptation is hard to resist. I find not drinking (alcohol) and a lack of transportation and money help me not give in. Spend your fun money on something else so it makes it harder to decide if you want to spend your neccasary funds on frivolous fleeting materialistic items

www.pornhub.com

Hope that helps
>>
Smoke weed dude. It helps so much. It's how I conquered my nicotine addiction.
>>
You can do it anon, I have faith in you. Don't give in to the temptation, if you keep up the good work, you won't want nicotine anymore.

I have a fucking hatred for nicotine desu

>>
>>29252231
the only reason I was able to quit was because I went broke. So glad im over it
>>
Five days here. It is miserable. The only reason I haven't broken yet is because I only have a few hundred dollars and that has to buy food until November. Christ it's frustrating. I'm smoking in my dreams now.

It takes a lot of courage to do that, OP. I'm very happy for you and I hope that you can kick your habit. I've had a nicotine addiction for around half a year now, so I'm in the same boat as you. I usually smoke once every hour. It fucking sucks, because it's taking up all my money and it's just annoying having to go out like 15 times a day. I don't even feel a rush from it anymore, not even the first smoke of the day, so it's just a complete waste of my money. I hate thinking of all the cool shit I could've bought if I wasn't buying so many cigs.

I also really hate the public nature of smoking. I can't smoke inside, so I've gotta sit on my porch and show the whole world that I'm a filthy smoker. People judge me really harshly because they see me on my stoop all the time. The people who live above me or next door always shoot me dirty looks. It hurts really bad when cute girls roll their eyes at me or give me an angry stare. And I overheard this one lady start talking about me with her friends while she was drunk. She was saying I had a serious problem, that I looked so dirty because I spent all my money on smokes, and that I was just a horrible, disgusting man.

More than the rest though, I hate how confrontational smoking is. I think people are somewhat justified in giving me angry looks, because I'm making them breathe in my tobacco smoke while they're walking by. I feel so goddamn selfish. I'm okay with fucking up my own body, but I don't want to bring other people into this. I especially feel bad when it's kids or pets walking by.

I know I'm not going to be able to go cold turkey, so right now I'm just trying to smoke less. My aim is to smoke only on even hours, which is like once every two hours. I successfully did it for a few days and I actually got a rush from smoking again. But then my anxiety started to spike and the cravings got really bad, so I fucked up and started smoking every hour again.

Pointless rant aside though, does anyone here know much about vaping? I see vapers all over my city, so I know how faggy they all look, but lifestyle aside it sounds kind of appealing to me. Less chance of cancer, I can smoke indoors, don't have to pay extravagant taxes on it, etc. Will it really save me money if I switch from regular cigs to an e-cig? Anyone got a figure on how much an equivalent vial of juice is to a plain old pack of cigs? They're taxing my ass off here, so a pack usually costs me between $7-$11. Also, does it feel the same? Like, do you get the same amazing rush from it?

I don't really know anything about vaping or where I'd even begin. There's a vape store right down the street, but I'd imagine it'd be a lot cheaper to order the stuff online. But then again, if I went into the store, wouldn't they'd be able to help me get started?
>>
>>29252809
go into the store and ask. previously ive been smoking to packs a day so you can imagine how much money i was wasting. a good vape might cost you a bit but the luquid is much cheaper than cigarettes. i still smoke cigarettes when on my way to therapy or shopping groceries because vaping looks retarded but thats just my autism. overall i went from smoking around 45 cigarettes a day to 3. so overall id say its worth it
>>
The cravings last a max 5mins. They will return, but you can outlast a 5min craving.

Don't give up.

Nicotine is used as a pesticide on crops. I don't know if you've ever chewed nicotine gum, but it burns in the throat. You don't want it in your body.

If you're at the point where you needed to quit, you probably smoked about a pack a day. Where I'm from, a pack of cigarettes costs 5 bucks, average. 5*14=$70 every two weeks, about $154 every month.

Associate that feeling, that feeling of your brain being pulled apart, with progress. Wait for it to ebb. Every cigarette you don't smoke brings you closer to your goal.

Yeah, it's true that nicotine is poisonous above certain levels, but you're probably never going to take enough of it to ever cause any harm to yourself. You'd only be in danger if you put several nicotine patches all over your chest or if you started slamming vaping juice like it was tequila. You'd have to try really, really hard to poison yourself with smoking. We're talking several packs of cigs, one after the other. You'd probably puke your lungs out way before you even come close to being in danger.

Interestingly, tobacco was used by Native Americans as an entheogen. An entheogen is like shrooms or ayahuasca -- something that makes you trip balls and start seeing the spirit world. Nicotine is like a delirant, so you get intense nightmarish delusions and hallucinations for like a full day if you smoke pure, raw tobacco. You'll probably never find raw tobacco in any store though, because it's just too strong.

I always wonder who was the unlucky guy who had to try these hallucinogenic plants first. It would've taken him completely off guard, so it must've been a shitty time.

dont bother quitting
youre going to die anyway

Good luck OP, I gave up for new year after smoking constantly for the past 7 years.

The first couple of weeks are horrible but it gets a lot easier the longer you stay smoke free. I can quite happily walk past a group of smokers without being tempted, but I don't go outside with the smokers anymore as that would be too much for my limited willpower to handle.

I do miss cigarettes occasionally, they were a way for me to start a new task with a small reward
>okay I'll do the dishes, but first I'll have a smoke
Whereas now I still have to do the boring shit but don't get to smoke beforehand.
>>
I quit cold turkey 5 years ago. I had tried to quit previously and failed.

The difference this time was that I became a second hand smoke Nazi. I realized that a lot of my friends smoked and that whenever hung out with them in a room that had smoke in it, I was getting high off of the nicotine present in the room. Predictably, after I would live that friends house, I would go through nicotine withdraw all over again. The reason I kept failing to quit is because I wasn't completely quitting. My friends where putting nicotine into my blood with their secondhand smoke. I was torturing myself with weekly withdraws. It's no wonder my previous attempts didn't work.

Eventually, I just cut all smokers out of my life entirely. My friends who smoked got sick of me not being willing to be in a room with them while they smoked and I got sick of them constantly trying to get me high on their nicotine. Now, I have an entire new circle of friends and they are all non smokers. I'm rarely tempted to smoke because I rarely see cigarettes.

I haven't had a drag in 5 years.

Dude im 8 days cold turkey. I know how to beat it!
>>
>>29253591
You stopped being friends with people just because they smoked cigarettes?

You're a douche.
>>
The first 48 hours are the hardest
Just another day and it'll start decreasing in intensity
You'll just have to keep yourself from smoking out of boredom if you can make it for a week or so

You can do it

Don't drink or have any caffeine/stims. Other drugs might help but not those two.
>>
>>29253591
>>29253591

That actually makes a lot of fucking sense. Damn.

Sounds reasonable to me. He is against their lifestyle choices and would rather have friends that suited his own.
>>
Smoke weed. It will fix your lung damage and give you something more positive in your life.
>>
>>29253487
>You'd have to try really, really hard to poison yourself with smoking

Not the point. The point is, regardless of how dangerous it actually is, what you are putting into yourself is literal poison.

Not saying we don't do that all the time, just that I tell myself that for motivation while quitting
