Not to listen to the music no, but to learn it helps because I'm weak on my theory atm and reading takes forever.
However the ones I linked are played well, despite having being used for synthesia, since they are played by real people not computers.

I can guarantee you the person who plays them doesn't even look at the screen when he does so. Learning to play with Synthesia you'll hit the point of deminishing returns really quickly and you'll struggle to understand proper note syntax and how it all flows into each other.
Pick up Alfreds All in One piano coursebook and start from page 1. Learning to read notes and understanding how they work is infinitely better than all the guesswork involved in Synthesia and trying to guesstimate everything based on some visual effects being streamed to you.

Who said anything about looking at a screen? I play all my pieces from memory. I only use synthesia to learn the notes. The expression and emotion I add in after. And I will eventually learn how to read properly, but at the moment synthesia works just fine.
