'Impossible' is a good adjective. I've been tossing the word around my head all day today, thinking of how someone is supposed to start getting their shit together, start the process of exiting NEEThood.

Let's run down the numbers:

Year one insurance for 18 y/o male
>$4000
Title transfer fees
>$200
Rent for a shitty trailer
>$350
A car
>$1000 minimum
Power bill
>$400
Bonus: Find a job that's full time!

Add that up and tell me how my current savings of $1000 dollars cuts into that. That's month number one.

I have a lot of ambitions. I want to make a documentary later this year, I want to make more tee shirts, YouTube videos, I want to meet anons and move in together, I want to work with my group I formed a full year ago. None of this is possible in my current state, I can't keep mooching off of others.

It makes you think how much easier life would be if you had a normal upbringing. No parents to get me a car when I was sixteen, shit; no parents at all. No college savings fund, no mentors to help me learn skills, no path to follow. It's just a miserable facefuck that you can't shake. If you have two parents and a college fund you ARE A NORMIE. That isn't a bad thing, thank you parents and appreciate the invaluable gift they've given you.

Give me one good reason why calling my recruiter and joining infantry right now isn't my only option.

i know this feel all too well

how do you fucks do it? not the best place to ask

>A car
>$1000 minimum

Hahahaha

hahahah

Good one, man.

Reality buster, but, rent is actually more like 700 a month for a shithole house and then you have to pay about 2000 bucks for deposits and follow the landlords long list of rules

The housing crisis is a spewing hot pile of dogshit that just keeps getting worse the more you think about it
>>
>>29242173
Are you saying that's too much or too little?
>>
>>29242199
Wheras everything is paid for in the military. Do you agree that that is the only option?

How did you guys get to where you are, how much did your parents help?
>>
Because I'm pretty sure they don't let whiny babies into the army. A car is not a necessity, it's a luxury. I have a part time and I can live with it. Get a bike and stop bitching about how life sucks, we know, we just learnt. Deal with it.

It's pretty difficult to get into government employment these days actually, military included. So don't take it as a given that they'll hire you.

You take the minimum wage as pocket money, it's not enough to do anything significant but can at least take care of most daily needs. Then you buy some certification and try to get a better job with a livable wage. If you don't have the option to stay with parents initially you could also take TWO shitty minimum wage part time jobs, and scrape by on the combined income. Failing that it's unemployment homelessness and DOOM.

What type of insurance is that first item on your list?

It can't be health, because for a broke 18 year old, you should qualify for a really low rate.
It can't be car; 4x the cost of the car in fees?
It can't be renters; that much for a trailer?

What is it?

Car insurance. And yes, it is literally 4 times the amount of my car JUST (JUST) for liability.

Meaning:

If I crash my car, the I pay four of my cars to fix the other person's car, then I have to spend another car to buy a new working car, then buy four cars to insure that car. The four cars I pay for insurance doesn't cover my car.

This is definition cuckoldry.
>>
>>29242289
I don't know where you live but a car is a necessity in most of the US. Most people here commute 20+ miles each way for work.

If you are willing to give up what little you have, to accept a job that includes room and board, there are options available to you.

Go work on a ranch for a couple of years, and save up money.

You could bet it all on a longshot:

* Apply to a community college.
* Take out loans to cover living expenses, as well as tuition
* Transfer to a state school; try to get a scholarship
* Keep racking up debt until you graduate
* Join Americorps; take advantage of their loan forgiveness program. http://www.nationalservice.gov/resources/ed-award/loan-forgiveness

* Work in a shithole for a couple of years to get rid of your debt.
* Get a normal well paying job
>>
>>29242769
you need parents to cosign college loans

it's for richfags only
>>
You can volunteer as a forest firefighter. They employ armies of dudes with axes and shovels to clear brush to prevent forest fires on the west coast of the US. It pays well and its like camping.
>>
literally JUST (JUST) right now I lost the car I was going to get to use for free too, now I need an extra couple thousand that I DONT HAVE hahahhhahhahaaahahaA

my only way out is suicide or military, what do
>>
>>29242900
No, there are programs for people who aren't supported by their parents. It's actually easier for them to get federal money.
>>
>>29242985
How do I go about doing that? Do they pay?
>>
>>29243033
Not sure the specifics, but check your state (or other state's) conservation boards. It pays well, although its very hard work and you must be fairly fit to begin with, and they usually provide cheap room and board when youre out in the field. Basically they bus you out to the middle of nowhere and you dig ditches and clear brush and trees for a few months, and they give you a hefty paycheck at the end. Or at least thats what ive heard.
>>
>>29243002
You may be able to get a cheap motorcycle or scooter. If youre mechanically gifted, they'll last plenty long. I got my yamaha xj600 for $750, and its great on gas. I've seen scooters as low as $250.
>>
>>29242201
Probably too little, not the same guy but a 1000$ car won't last you long
>>
>>29243769
it'll last if you take care of it.
>>
>>29241996
Hack.

What happened with you? Also do you know what happened to black king Chad?

I was active in that thread that one night.
>>
>>29241996
Not American here. $400/mo for power? What the fuck, do you get your energy from shaved gold?
>>
>>29242985
>volunteer
I'm guessing they hire like any other agency though. They won't just take anybody right>>29243002
>>
>>29243950
I think that was annual? Idk
>>
>>29241996
Yes, life is bs, even if you get an entry job and/or some qualification then getting a GOOD job is another layer bs, sure there is some level of networking and proving yourself involved but in the end it comes down to luck, if your contacts don't happen to have a job to offer you then you are fucked.
>>
Why do you need a car? rent some place close to your job until you save up enough.
>>
>>29244080
how are you supposed to get to your job and earn rent without a car?
>>
>>29244097
>rent some place close to your job until you save up enough.
Walk or public transport.
>>
>>29243849
I got black Chad put away, and what do you mean what happened to me?
>>
>>29244150
there's no public transport or places close enough to walk
>>
>>29244097

OP, I am like you. Had no parents or family really to support me. I joined the Air Force, and am learning a skill that includes planes. Not all military branches are geared toward combat OP, and there are more jobs in the branches than combat ones. But let me tell you know, boot camp is hard as heck and you will compete against normies and Chads there. It's the hardest thing possibly you will ever experience in your life. Military isn't for everyone you have to be physically and mentally strong.
>>
>>29243769
Probably too much, assuming you go to your local auto auction and find a high mile junker that still runs reliably enough, OR have the skills or know someone how can fix it for a reasonable price.
I got an 88 Nissan Maxima for $250, though I had the benefit of a dad willing and able to get it running again. It was still a deathtrap with 275k miles but it got me to work until I saved for something better.
>>29242460
Have you got quotes from at least a dozen places? Because they all use different rating systems and you WILL get fucked over if you don't get enough quotes.
For example, Safe Auto wants about $410/month for my one car but Geico wants $72 for identical coverage.
I've sold insurance before and you'll never hear any decent salesman admit their insurance might not be the best for you, even though someone else somehere is willing to give you the same thing for a fraction of the cost.
