Well, I was always an Atheist, I just wasn't really allowed to be open about it until I left my community. My family is highly conservative but I was allowed to talk to girls and non muslims and shit. My family is also really easily offended, but I don't talk to them much so I'm not really affected.
I hated Islam and felt that to be American is to support personal freedom for all, something Islam is highly against. I kinda played along with my family until I left them.

Being african I couldn't hang out with other muslims (they were mostly pakistani) and had an easier time befriend whities, this was through primary school.
In high school my social circle was 90% white and even dated a couple white grills. But as people grew older more events were alcohol based and since I couldn't drink I found myself uncomfortable going to parties and ended up isolating myself.

I sin based on what makes sense to me. I understand why alcohol is a sin as it makes disconnects you from rational thought and turns you into a mess. I date because I feel it's harmless and best way to learn about the needs and wants of the opposite sex.
