Did /r9k/ watch The Witch? It was one of the best horror movies I've ever seen, almost as good as The Babadook and Alien (1979). Great atmospheric horror, much better than the teen slasher garbage that kreps coming out.

Yeah the kid was pretty annoying in the first half, but I loved the story and the directing style enough to look past it.
I spent the entire movie waiting for the "horror" part of it until the credits started rolling and I realized that I had been rused. I also had difficulty parsing the dialogue.

I saw it in the theater and I liked it enough. The funny thing was at least 3 couples left during the film, probably because it's really depressing/not a thriller at all.
I have to say though that one scene had me clutching my mantitty for dear life, that was gruesome

The best part is when Mercy comes up to Thomasin and Caleb by the stream and claims to be the witch of the woods and starts saying "CLICKITY CLACKITY CLICKITY CLACKITY" and also when Mercy and Jonas are chasing around Black Phillip while singing that rhyme.
Does anybody know what the coven is chanting at the very end? I'm sure it's in Latin but I can't understand any of it.
